  1. Jin not that I`ve done a lot of beach detecting but you`ll get your best results where a lot of people go and throw their towel on the sand and lay there and then go up to the shop next to the carpark and buy a ice cream. Desolate beaches that not many go to, I never did any good. And rather than using a pick, get yourself a sand scoop. Here is a couple I made years ago out of truck exhaust heat shield. They worked fine for digging and sieving. As you can see because of the cobwebs, they haven`t been used for many years. Have a good one.
  2. Jin from my experience you`ll do better on Ebay than rocking into a gold buyer. A gold buyer near me pays spot minus 17%, and that`s ok, they`ve gotta make a profit, but if you want to put in the effort, take good photo`s, good descriptions, stuff like that, most times you`ll get spot or better on Ebay. You can sell "at auction" and just take what you get, or you can set a no auction "buy it now" price. Don`t scrimp on postage, always pay for registered post and post in the proper padded bags. cheers
  3. I can only guess that to get it certified for Human use would cost a heap of dollars and apparently the stuff sells like hotcakes now without doing all sorts of clinical trials. Again I say, try it or don`t try it, completely up to the individual. Here is a article I found about the stuff before I first bought it. cheers https://www.todaytonightadelaide.com.au/stories/horse-gel
  4. OK, going off at a tangent, about 6 months ago I was put onto this stuff. I`ve had bad knees, elbows and wrists for years and for me this stuff is a miracle cure. I don`t think it`s a placebo thing because the first time I applied it I really didn`t think it would work. You may notice it says not for human use but for horses and dogs only, and I don`t care. For the first time in 25 years I am pain free in my wrists. I put a mate onto it a month ago and he now uses it daily for his knees. The guy that put me onto it has been using it for 20 years for arthritic hands. One of our chemist chains over here even sells the stuff. The funny thing is, they don`t sell anything else for horses or dogs. Try it or don`t try it. Completely up to you. Dave Sorry Steve if this is too off topic. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=rapigel&_sacat=0
  5. Thank you for that tip JP. I have had no idea whether we should be using semi auto or not. Dave
  6. Hola Luis. Bienvenido al foro. Debes aprender montones aquí. Sé que tengo. saludos Dave
  7. I`ve got a bench at home that`s been getting more and more cluttered and yesterday I decided to have a clean up. In amongst all this stuff, I came across a jar that had this speci in it. I have no memory of it, so I asked the better half about it, and she has no memory of it either, but seeing I don`t remember it she`s claiming ownership, and that`s OK because I really don`t think it`s mine. I recon there is at least a half a gram of gold in this piece and neither of us remember it. It may have been on the bench for 5 or 6 years
  8. Hey hayesman. mate it all depends on why you are detecting. I detect because I want to find gold, not to make money out of it. I used gold I found with other detectors to pay for my 7000 and I have found enough gold with the 7 to replace the gold I used. cheers
  9. I came across this site a couple of months ago and I use it all the time for resizing my photos. Way quicker than going in and resizing them with Microsoft Paint. Some how with this site you don`t even have to upload the photos. From when I dragged this photo onto the site, it was back down in my download folder about 2 seconds later. I resized it 50% so it went from 1.22mb to 292kb. Apparently with the site you can do 150 photos in less than 60 seconds, but the most I`ve ever done in one go is 6. I`ll never need to resize that many photos in one go, I just don`t find that much gold https://bulkresizephotos.com/
  10. Steve on another forum a few years ago they had a unmoderated off topic area and it was a complete disaster. In my opinion, that way lies damnation
  11. I was told a couple of yrs ago that in the 14" coil there is over 5000 ft of wire and if that`s the case that`s where the weight comes from. No way did Minelab make the 14" and 19" heavier just for the sheer hell of it. I`m thinking that to reduce weights on the coils would be to reduce performance or maybe they would not work at all.
  12. Well done mate, that`s impressive stuff with the 19" coil. Lunk are you able to run "normal" ground or are you in difficult?
  13. I met Jim on 5 or 6 occasions and some of the storys he told me were nothing short of astonishing. Apparently back in the early days if he came home with less than a ounce of gold he had had a bad day. I can`t even comprehend that. I am very much looking forward to Jim Stewarts gold album
  14. sub ouncers???? I wish. I`m talking sub grammers
  15. JW anybody can find multi ounce nuggets that are just laying around, but it takes real talent to find the point oners.. At least that`s what I keep telling myself. cheers Dave
  16. I got out to Tarnagulla today for about 4hrs and more often than not I come home from Tarnagulla empty handed but today I managed to get these three. There`s got to be a big one there somewhere waiting for me (I hope), but these three go 0.85 gram Dave
  17. Yeh mate, that`s why I only welded them length ways, not across the blade. I figure way less chance of them breaking. cheers
  18. Both my big and little pick where looking a bit worse for wear lately, but they both still have nice sturdy handles on them so I decided to have a go at fixing them. To replace the big pick would probably cost me a couple of hundred bucks. My mate Steve gave me the material , a piece of car leaf spring. I used a 4½" angle grinder with a cut off disc to cut the pieces I needed, (don`t force the grinder, just let the grinder do the work and you wont tear hell out of the disc). I own a 240 volt, 15 amp inverter stick welder that I bought on ebay, ( I have no idea what the equivalent would be in the States), I fitted the new material to the the back of the pick blades, and welded them length ways only, NOT, across the blades, with low hydrogen rods. I wanted to use them for a couple of days before I told the world how clever I was, and I gotta say these new picks are great, so much easier to dig with. Much better than when they were new off the shelf. I`ve only used them 3 days so I still have to see how they stand up, but at the moment I am very happy with them. Dave
