  1. Very nice hunt with several nice items. Glad you are doing well with the Deus 2, but don't forget about the Nox as she will get mad at you. Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe.
  2. Great finds and the thimble looks to be in great shape. Good luck on your next hunt, because the cold is going to get you.
  3. Looks like the 2 of you had a very nice hunt together with some great finds. Wish you more luck on your next outing.
  4. The 800 I have with the stock 11 inch coil has found some nice coins down to almost 12 inches without any problems. The 800 is an amazing detector that with the right coil will find anything you want. I would go with a bigger coil for more depth, but I think the stock coil will be fine for you. Good luck and good hunting.
  5. Great hunt again with a real nice looking IH. Good luck on cleaning up the button and good luck on your next outing.
  6. Great hunting and hope that you will learn everything about it, just so that you can teach me how to use it. I haven't been able to detect for quite some time now, and am ready to get back to it. Good luck and good hunting.
  7. I wonder that since they were stacked on top of each other that maybe they acted like a battery in the ground due to the soil. Just a thought from how they look. Good luck on your next hunt.
  8. Very nice hunt, looks like it may have been down about 6 inches and protected a little bit. Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe.
  9. Glad to hear that you are doing much better Brian and glad that you had a chance to get out there to do some hunting. Great finds for both of you and glad that you shared the hunt with us. Good luck on your next outing.
  10. Check out some of the local detector clubs and ask for local help to find it. They will probably have every type of detector made to locate it. Good luck.
  11. There you go again just showing off with all those finds. Congrats on the hunt with some very nice saves. Good luck on your next outing and stay safe out there.
  12. Welcome to the best forum on the net and we are glad to have you with us. Please share some of your hunts and finds with us in the near future. I live in the middle of Illinois, not near Chicago at all, and feel sorry that you are where you are at. I promise that we won't hold that against you if you know what I mean. Good luck and good hunting.
  13. The 2 subs I operate have no heaters due to the fact that they are battery powered. Electric heat would cut our dive time in half or more. That is why we use the items I mentioned above. It may be 99 degrees topside but when you get down a few hundred feet the temp drops fast and hard.
  14. Fantastic hunting and hope that you didn't get hurt from your fall. I would not know what to do with a hunt like that, as I go to a lot of old buildings near me. Good luck on your next hunt and lets see if you can double it next time.
  15. Great hunt for you except getting skunked on one day. Wish you more luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.
  16. Welcome to the forum and will be looking forward to reading about some of your finds. Please include some pictures as they are always enjoyed by many of us. What part of the country are you from and what type of hunting do you do, parks, beaches, farms, or deserts for gold? Good luck and good hunting.
  17. 30 degree weather with no wind, normal jacket. 30 degree weather with high winds, heavy jacket and wind breaker underneath. gloves used almost always, pocket warmers if you are older, electric pants if your rich with the shirt to match. With today's tech out there one can stay warm for a few hours of hunting. Heated boots are nice during the winter also. I know about most of these items because I have to use some of them when I am in the mini-sub working because the water is really cold and cools off the sub fast.
  18. Sounds like you had to much fun on this business trip, but it couldn't have happened to a better man. Good luck on your next hunt and I hope you get plenty of rest from your trip.
  19. How many feet did you get? 1 foot to 1.5 feet you need a 25 inch coil to get the nuggets close to the top. 1.5 feet to 2 feet you need the 36 inch coil for anything 2 inches below ground level. 3 inches to 1 foot use 11 inch coil for ground coverage. 1 to 2 inches just tough it out and use the standard equipment you wus. Good luck and stay safe.
  20. Looks like you were busy with all those nice looking coins. Good luck on your next outing and stay safe.
  21. Welcome to the best forum on the net and I am sure that there will be many others to welcome you also. I also use the 800 and love it, what do you think of yours. Good luck and good hunting as I know that you have plenty of history just under your feet where you live.
  22. Welcome to the forum and glad to see you here. I have been using my grandfathers 800 and I know that it can do almost anything the higher priced units can do. I am also new at metal detecting and was able to use it with just the factory settings the first time. I have dug a lot of nice coins and some that really stunk, but would have never have found them without it. Good luck on your choice of detectors and just remember that the 600/800 will still be around a long time with plenty of accessories if you want.
  23. I wish to thank everyone for these fine suggestions and will be ordering something soon. I am still in the Gulf working due to the hurricane and things are starting to slow down enough for me to take some time off and let some of the other workers get some time in. I am still in my early 20's and with what I have been doing I never knew that it could hurt my ears as bad as it has. Using the mini-sub that we purchased last year has caused the most damage and I need to find a better way to use it and not damage my ears as much. I enjoy my line of work and would hate to give it up, so there is some things I have to do differently it looks like. I still want to use the 800 as much as I can so I guess I am going to have to use headphones of some type. Once again thank you all for your responses to my needs. Caleb
  24. I hope that someone can help me out with a problem that I now have. My hearing is getting bad due to constant ringing in the ears and I am unable to hear all the tones. This has happened due to using a mini-sub for work all the time and the doctor tells me that it will only get worse. I have my grandfathers 800 that I have been using and am having problems hearing the tones that I know was there before. Soon I have to start taking a break from work or I will lose my hearing all together and I thought I would get back out there with the detector. Does anyone have any suggestions that I can do to be able to hear the tones, or do I just need to use the ID's on the display. I can no longer hear low tones or real short tones and that is what bothers me, and I don't like wearing headphones because I want to be able to hear what is around me. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you, Caleb
