  1. Another one.....😳 ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ! You're makin' me look bad again. Those must be the best publicity pics you could ever get for a detector dealer ! Now I'm going back in the corner and cry.......🀣 (I didn't get my nox from you !!!! wahhhhhhhhhh)
  2. Rob , no need to respect it.. I call them "Reality My Ass" TV shows. Plot generated by writers that never held a detector....meh ! The actual finds seem less contrived but if planting one is easier for the production it will happen too. The actual treasure is in the advertising .... Yup yup on the "pinch digger" skuh kuh kuh kuh Basically just a roadie. (A senior cast member gets an understudy as a job perk) Later , that guy is swinging the 3030 and giving scripted "detector guru advise" lines Gary fed him... It was funny seeing one of the brothers doing the digging though... "talent" has a shovel only for the camera . But he WAS digging LOL.
  3. Wool sweater under the raincoat for damp + cold here.. Yup , also wearing one now.
  4. Grundens are just about universal out in the fleet. I'm wearing some now , it's been heavy rain with winds gusting to 30kts here since 9am ....
  5. Ya knowwww.I was thinking about what Gary probably gets paid on that show..... If I (or most of us) was him.......πŸ€” Probably spend a good chunk of it on new gear !!!!Arrrrrrrrrr I bet wherever he hangs his detectors is quite a sight to see ! 😜
  6. Yeah , that was it ! I must not have seen the detector body and just assumed it was his 3030. That coil was a Bobby Dazzler .......all I was looking at LOL😳
  7. I haven't been watching that show regularly but when I first did the few shows I did watch , Gary WAS using an Equinox . The first time I saw the 3030 , he had a GIANT coil on it. And the last show I saw , it was still the 3030. .... clips of the actual detectors are going by quick. The rest of the show,,,,,,,meh. Gary IS the star ,,,,,,isn't he ??????? well , to us anyway. And yes , I agree . There are many here that could probably teach him a thing or two. But he might be portrayed differently on the screen than he is in person. Not putting down his previous finds either . Location location location ,,,,really makes a difference. His relic knowledge seems pretty extensive though so I'm guessing he has some serious years under his detector harness..........possibly some archaeology (sp?) background ? The Nox and 3030 are said to be complimentary , would be nice to see the best of both in just one or the other IMO.
  8. Welcome aboard momokahn ! Your decision will be hard , lots of machines (from vapor ware to new and old(er) to pick from . Reading others postings on the different models here should help narrow it down. Then it will be down to getting a coil over something good.....and good luck to ya ! On detector choice AND targets.
  9. Exactly . Of course it COULD have been a "too late to change it now , over budget" thing ,,but I bet we all remember that name..! Now watch , he's gonna find a giant treasure with it. And later we'll find out the design engineer found something that was left behind by ,,,advanced intelligence.😏 May the force be with him .
  10. Mental Detector , probably a typo error but I love the name ! (My guess is the physics of swing speed would be the opposite , going faster producing less phase shift . But I didn't design these things ) Either way I'll echo the above comments , the variably fast vs. slow and constant speed is probably one of if not the reason for the vdi shift. Maintaining a constant distance (level swing) is another .
  11. Very nice collection from that trip ! Sounds like you worked for it ....but right in camp... Maybe you should move there from ID ?😎
  12. I wish I had somebody next door that could weld like that ! Was short on time last night , so increase thisπŸ‘ to this πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ and throw in one of these πŸ––
  13. I agree with the advise of getting to know your detector by using it. You will develop a sense of what it is "telling you" and that sense is the key . If you find anything of even small value , The real value is in the knowledge you gain. As has been mentioned you will most likely eventually decide to upgrade your detector (or just walk away from it all.)...one really good find and I'm sorry to inform you but you WILL be hopelessly addicted ! Just like the rest of us....LOL. Good luck on your hunts . Keep reading the forums. (there are lots of informative posts already) , start here Ask us about anything that confuses you , we'll be glad to help .
  14. Arrrrrrrr #12 was a good first mate. Found lots of treasarrrrrrrr, 'May Davey Jones rest his bonez....
  15. My greatest skill is losing my keys ! I now distribute several copies on my self AND in the rig plus one at mom's in an express mail envelope ......sad , but it does keep me going. πŸ€ͺ Never owned a vehicle with one of those "smart" key fobs ....................probably should avoid it..
  16. Broken coil sux. Especially if it's the only coil..... That lure is probably a $5 bill.
  17. Good lookin' collection of stuff. I think your average is going up ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
