  1. Great finds Brian! I also think your find is part of a Chinese lock. PS. Tom sent me a map of your hunt sites so I should be seeing you out there shortly. Thanks again Tom. Tom
  2. I have found I have much better results by cutting out the plastic spring and replacing it with two small screws, two nuts, and a small metal spring.
  3. "I've not seen anything from XP that's cheaply made" You must have forgotten about that Robust Coil charging clip. 😁
  4. Steve, I managed to find a manual for the Gold Demon but thanks for getting back to me on it. Tom
  5. You can save a lot of testing time by using the Equinox and actually learning it. You can also save hours and hours by posting a question on the forums like " who here has sold their Equinox and kept, or bought the AT Max. (Crickets chirping I'm sure).
  6. It's sad to hear that the quality isn't what it used to be. I've had mine for about 8 years plus or minus a couple and it has dug 1000's of holes and pried just as many rocks in rock hard Arizona dirt. I've had to sharpen it a few times but I'd have to say its been one of my top detecting tools in 45 years of detecting. I hope to hear of a good replacement in case I ever need one, but I'm thinking mine might out last me..
  7. V Nickel for sure. Half cents didn't have a star directly above the head like the V Nickel and yours above have.
  8. Mine was found near the Salt River in Arizona. Once a stronghold for the Apaches. Has been worked to create s groove around it to aid in attaching to a handle. JMHO
  9. I've dug those things for years. First few years (82-83) they were still in decent condition. Now that I'm older, I don't waste my time on them. Any I accidently find now go in the trash. These are some I dug in the past few years. I gallon jug full and another 2 gallon jug with about 3"s in the bottom. The coil is for size reference.
  10. Wow, I almost told you the Nox 800 is a better coin and jewelry detector. Glad I didn't. 😁
  11. Having both, I have to agree with the comments above. The ORX is a great detector but better suited to hunting more relic type sites including old home sites and house teardowns. The Deus has so many more audio features or adjustments that it make the Deus a better park, and school detector. I bought the ORX first and then decided that it, being as good as it is, the Deus with the added audio features would be that much better. I still have them both but the Deus is the detector I put to work.
  12. Brian - Great finds and love the video. I've finally hacked into you car's GPS so expect to see me at some of your other back pocket sites. You heading to the usual Labor Day Spot? If so, we'll see you there. Tom
  13. Both my Wife and my sister have traveled with me to past Monte's W.T.H.O's. My sister had asked me for some of my Ghost Town found items and yesterday she presented me with a shadow box full of items found on these past outings. Now to figure out where to hang it. I'm thinking my gold mining / detecting themed office will be just the place. Just thought I'd share.
  14. GB - Great writeup! I had a great time also as always on the W.T.H.O. Gregg did a great job as President and maybe Monte the CEO can make it next time. Tom from Arizona AKA Tom Slick
  15. I wasn't able to achieve any more depth with the 13" coil in my AZ dirt although it did cover more ground. I eventually sold it due to the weight. Makes the Deus very nose heavy. Hopefully you see a depth difference in your sites. Try the Nox with a lower recovery speed for those deeper coins. I pretty much run my Nox at 4 - 5 unless I'm hunting iron infested ghost town sites and then I'll speed it up.
  16. Your Coraline Skeleton Key is available at Walmart. They use them as pendants, keychains etc. Fun Find.
  17. I received mine also. No chance to try it yet but my guess is that it won't come off for my my sites. The Anfibio Multi is another great detector but after getting the Nox 800 I sold the Anfibio as for me, the Nox just did everything better.
  18. Just received an email that my 5x10" coil has shipped. I should have it by this weekend. Yay!
  19. So last week I'm watching Freddy Dodge's Gold Mining show and he calls his friend, a "nugget detecting Expert" to come check out a claim to see if there is any large gold to be found. She takes out her Garrett Apex and proceeds to find close to a 1/4 oz nugget. That's it, I'm selling all my other detectors and getting an Apex.🤣
  20. Here's mine. Snap on what ever size socket you want. The socket pictured weighs 16 oz. I don't use it as I like the way my "S" rod mod. swings.
  21. Wow "Not fully released quite yet" although the dealers have been receiving, selling, and shipping them to customers.
