You're right Steve. I don't remember where I found it. Probably not an Indian camp. I did find an Indian hammered small copper knife and chips of flint that was probably an Indian camp. It overlooking a river but didn't find any stones there. The upper peninsula of MIchigan has copper mines and the Indians used get copper up there. Some people detect the streams up there and find pieces of float copper where some can be artistic. There are giant pieces of float copper too. The copper was moved by the Glaciers and that's why it's called float copper. Sample of Indian copper and float copper.

More Great Advice For Newbies..

Metal detecting is obsessive compulsive addictive once you start detector lol. -
My buddy has been using an Advantage for a few years and has tried nothing else. I let him try my Equinox 800 and I had doubts he would like it. I was surprised how easily he took to it. I showed him the settings and off he went detecting with it. His first target was a silver ring. He ended the day with the silver ring, wheat penny, silver dime and a V nickel. He loved the Equinox 800 and now he has one. I don't think someone with little or no experience would do well with the Equinox. I think a simpler detector would be better where you can set the disc and dig when it beeps. Get some experience detecting and if they like it, then move up with a better detector.

Nice gold! -
It's always good to find gold. The Apex sounds like a nice detector.

The coil in the photo look like it could be elliptical but it's hard to really tell from that angle. The shaft looks carbon fiber. There not showing us much yet.

First Ever Silver Thimble At 1850's Site
Rick N. MI replied to Goldpick's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Wow, that's a great thimble. Great hunt too. -
Great test. I like the bracelet find too. That's why most people hunt with iron bias F2 0. You do get falsing in iron then. Turning down sensitivity in iron helps that.

New Coil For Ftp
Rick N. MI replied to ☠ Cipher's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
And Nokta Makro asked us what we would like to see in there new mf detector. I'm looking forward to this one, and Garrett's, and hopefully FT. I don't know of any other detector manufacturer to ask this. -

Nokta Makro seems to be the only one to watch the forums as to what people are saying. -
Nice finding gold. Good you found the disc controller was off a bit. That could really mess you up.
