@GeotechInstructions for creating new programs are in the user manual.  It's not really top secret.

@cathexisI don't have a store/service.  I am an end user.  I have contacted Garrett who directed me to Centreville Electronics to get answers and support for the V3i.  Centreville Electronics "had" the database with the information I am looking for.  However, the database isn't working.  They have a programmer trying to find a solution.  I figured I'd post here to see if someone out there has the answer.

I know how to create new programs, but you are correct. It's not top secret, it's Top Secret. Shhhh, don't tell anyone!

Yea.  But the the original question is:  Does anyone know how to reset the password?

I bought a V3i used (great deal), but the original owner never wrote down the password when he entered is registration information.  Everything works fine, but I would like to enter my information.

I’ve been looking in my free time today for you and haven’t found a workaround or alternate method other than the computer program described. It looks like all you can do is hope that Centerville gets it up and running. Do you have any contact with the previous owner? Memory is a funny thing. One day it might be out of reach, other days it comes right back to you.

You can't change the password without help from the "factory." Since the factory is closed, that's now either Garrett or Todd Marshall. I'd put my money on Todd.

How much are you going to spend, Carl??

I found this thread looking for help with my v3i and joined to get more info but it doesn't look good.

My v3i is about 10 years old and my wife and I would hit the beach almost daily until life, work changed and they were put away for a while, I dug them out tonight ( wife has a minelab 3030 ) to get back into the hobby I need the exercise and my OCD reminded me about the password on mine which I thought I knew right where my wife wrote it on the paper manual but no, ugh.

Did possible two paper manuals come with these new?
I have another couple places to hunt but we have moved and I just don't think I will find it, I don't want to sell it or loose my programs anyway but do want to change or remove the password it's an OCD thing.

So after reading this thread I learned whites is now defunct very sorry to hear that and not around to help me out, what can I do?
My name on the v3i is on my drivers license pretty good evidence it's really mine I'm I basically stuck with it as is now?

Many thanks for any help,

Okay,

Right after I posted this on here my wife says let her see where she wrote on the manual and there was what I thought was chicken scratch with a serial number but as it turned out it was my password,
A four digit I guess factory installed one, I assumed I was hunting an old password I made up by me,

Anyway it worked and I changed my contact from an old phone number I no longer have,

I guess I solved my own problem
