Thanks, Chase - I will do my very best The trash significantly decreased on the beaches I regularly hunt. Probably because I dug plenty of it + got better in identifying it. Not seldom, that I've got more coins than trash in the pouch - yipee
Sinclair
Another 2h on 2 beaches yesterday.. Here's the trash I found including surface finds (at least 2-3 crown and 1 aluminium bottletops), which I always take with me: Coins I've found: Still no summer holidays over here.
Sinclair
So I bought a new scoop: It's the 170mm sito.. compared to my old scoop (which I've never used on the dry, because it weights over 2,5kg): Quickly added an ash handle with some shrink tubing: Hm.. I have mixed feelings so far.. I think my selfmade cheapo hand-scoop is still superior on the dry sand. If the sand is a little wet, you have to give it a real good shake.. the handle is a little too thick for my taste (have to try a T-handle perhaps, but couldn't get one at home depot with the correct dimensions..). The holes are 10mm, I think 12mm would be better on the dry.. anyway.. coins found after 1,5h: 12,60€ .. that's ok - I think I've found ~ 225€ by now. Selfmade hand-scoop with fence wire - the sand literally just falls through. My goto scoop for fresh coins:
staffydog33
I made my own shaft and handle using a hard plastic shaft from an old shovel...plus made a grab handle from a hospital crutch...lol. Sounds mad...but works perfect. I will add some pics shortly. Matt.
Sinclair
I have a pair of crutches lie in the cellar for future projects.. The sito scoop needs a somewhat odd handle diameter.. 36-37mm + the weld came through the shaft some.. I'll probably keep it though.
Sinclair
Not a great amount of cash on my last hunt: But three old 1924 coins, a nice navi button and at least the earring turned out to be sterling silver No one on the beach.. + it was super windy, I literally got sandblastet. The sand got shifted 20-40cm on some spots Everyone is hanging out at the "Kieler Week" - the world's biggest regatta and sailing event .. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiel_Week One Week full of events and party in our city
