  1. Nice finds and looks like a good hunt, good luck on your next hunt and please show more pictures.
  2. Thanks for sharing and hope you find more soon. Good luck on your next hunt.
  3. Very nice, wish I could get out there and use my 800 sometime. My neck is still giving me problems and also the wife has to many things on her list. When I get feeling better then I am going to find something almost as nice as that. Good luck on your next hunt and post more pictures when your done.
  4. Yes it could be and most likely it was used for that purpose. The glass and brass types were only used for 2 things, wax and for pottery. When used for pottery they would use such a item before they fired it in a kiln.
  5. The only black opal I have purchased has been the Australian black opal and it was not cheap! I do not know what part it came from but can tell you that she has 3 pendants, matching earrings, and 2 rings with it on the pieces. There are very few jewelers that know the quality pieces and how they really look in any light, but the sunlight is the best to show them off in . They sparkle and change with every motion while wearing them. Once again thanks again for sharing the pictures.
  6. Please check what update you have and if it is old, get the latest update. Go to a park and stay clear of all power lines as they will give the most EMI. Leave your cell phone in the car and try your unit again. I had a very similar problem and found that it was the power lines and a new cell tower in my area. After the update it seemed to take care of the problem.
  7. Beautiful item, I got my wife some black opals a few years back, and if she ever see's this I am in real trouble.
  8. Well you almost got it right, as they had several locations along the Oregon Trail, so you still need to find out which town it came from.
  9. Wineries have been around in the New England area for over 200 years, with the slogan joy of 1(one). About 75 years ago one of them moved to California. The wax seal that you found must have come from one of the early wineries in the area. I did forget to mention that the image would be the name of the winery, so you are looking for something that has a horse rider and dogs chasing something. The time period that you really need to be checking is between 1790 and 1840 for the winery that was in the same area where you found it. That is what I have found and believe that you will soon have your answer on where it came from.
  10. Nice finds, does the top center hole have threads, or is it smooth. I can tell that it is brass and glass, so that should be for a wax seal. It could have been used for letters, documents, or even wine bottles depending on where you found them. Please let me know if it is glass and brass and a general area where you found them.
  11. Steve, I must disagree with that statement, as if it were not for you this forum could not have grown in such a manner that it has. Here is where people have come to share their knowledge and experience because of what you have created. You have shared your experience with every known detector in the world without a minute of hesitation. You have rallied others to do the same, and in doing so you have surpassed all the other forums in such a short time. Thank you for your help, your wisdom, your patience with the people who have come her for advice, as I am just one of those people you have helped.
  12. Great job, good luck on your next hunt!
  13. Nice nuggets and great job finding them. Thanks for sharing, now tell us where it is so maybe we can get some. Just kidding.
  14. Dharma, Glad to see you here and hope to see some of your finds that you get. Please post some pictures of the finds, and ask the people on here for help as they are some of the nicest people around. I have always received very good help with my problems on here and I am sure that they will be eager to help you also. Welcome aboard!
  15. Especially with interest as that should be equal to at least a couple of full bottles of whiskey.
  16. That is actually a boot heel plate from the 1860 to 1880 era. They were probably from a cavalry unit out of Oregon and brought where you found it. Since I do not know where you found it I would say either near the North West portion of Idaho or near Boise Idaho. The plate was only used by the Sargent's or higher and only for the cavalry. My brother had a set of them when I visited him in Oregon several years ago. Very good find because they are hard to find. They also used brass nails to put them on with.
  17. Very nice, and don't look to bad at all. Keep up the good work!
  18. My back yard is exactly like that, but I have also dug up a 1886 Indian Head penny from there. There is a lot of trash that has been thrown down there, only because it used to be an old church. There is no way for me to get rid of all the trash because I do want a green yard without all the holes. Good luck on learning your 800 as it will serve you well.
  19. You also may want to be sure that you have the newest update. When I bought mine and started to learn it I then got the update. Talk about having to learn the 800 again, and I am still learning the unit. Good luck and happy hunting!
  20. One of these days I will find a really nice buffalo like that, great job and keep up the hunt!
  21. WOW, great finds in that short of time. Keep up with the hunts and good luck.
  22. Welcome to the forum and I am happy to let you know that you have found some of the most knowledgeable people around. They can help you with your new machine and give you some great advice if you should need it.
  23. Thanks for finding the right year and hub cap, as for a item from a railroad light it does not match any on record. They were close, however they were to large to be the same.
  24. I was not thinking of that, however that is more logical than a hubcap. I will do a search into my archives and let you know as they did/do have that style on the back of the trains now since they stopped using a caboose. I will get back to you soon.
  25. Sorry for thinking that it might be grease, so please look up a 1953 Chrysler type car, and you should have what you are looking for. Since my neck and shoulder has been hurting my eyes have given me fits.
