  1. Nice find, and glad your able to post a picture of it. Happy hunting!
  2. Question. Is that wheel bearing grease on the edges and inside of the piece? If it is I would say that it came off a wheel of a trailer used on the railroad.
  3. You should be asking Steve H. he will be able to help you out the most. Good luck and happy hunting!
  4. I couldn't have said it better. I learned the same thing when I first got mine, so it is very normal to hear that.
  5. Rest in Peace as you shall be missed by those of you and your knowledge has touched. Heaven has now received another whose detector is now on virgin ground with lots of finds for you to enjoy. We shall miss you, and we shall remember your words that you have given us. May your family know that we are praying for them during their time of grief.
  6. Welcome to the forum and a great choice on the 800, hope you enjoy it and happy hunting!
  7. The easiest way that I have found to get rid of Moles is simple. 1. When the are feeding or making new trails be extremely quiet when walking in the yard so you can sneak up on them so they don't stop moving. Feeding times vary and I have caught mine between 4:30pm - 6:30pm as I am a late night person. 2. Should the Mole be making a new trail quickly stomp on the trail behind him to form a barrier to slow him down. Then take a stake and stab him until he slows down, you will know when you hit him as you will hear a pop. Once you know that he is on the stake pry out the Mole without pulling the stake from him, I like to see him wiggle just a little before finishing him off. 3. Once he is dead look for more, after you kill a few their blood is in the ground and that will keep others out for a while. 4. Repeat until you get all of them, have fun and watch out when you get them out of the ground as they will try to attack you for stabbing them.
  8. Nice old finds, everything from a horse shoe to the harmonica. Great job.
  9. You nailed it as I was ready to state the same thing. They also use the same hammer in some leather making methods for softening the leather. The wedge end was to help cut leather strips to length without using cutters.
  10. Welcome to the forum and stay safe up there. I live south of Springfield and know how rough that area is. Isherwood beach a friend has found several rings and a lot of coins in knee deep water. I don't know what part of the area you live in so I really can't tell you of a good place to hunt up there. Good luck and stay away from the south side.
  11. Amazing finds from you again, thanks for sharing.
  12. Nice cross, since it is 10k I would believe that they put some chip diamonds in it. They are not worth much about the same as industrial use diamonds.
  13. After looking at the button it is my opinion that it is mid 1920's. Should you look at the center button of fig 3 you will notice that it is the same as yours. https://about.usps.com/who-we-are/postal-history/letter-carrier-buttons.pdf After talking with friends who collect these type of buttons they also agree that it is from that era, because they were mass produced at that time. Due to the look and detail still on it is the second reason they say it is when it was made. Very few of them left in such good condition, and it should clean up nicely.
  14. Great finds and keep it up, love seeing photos of nice finds.
  15. That stuff will give all types of signals on any machine, some areas around here is really bad with it. Keep up the hunts and post some more as I can't get out yet.
  16. I know what you are talking about and I am still learning about mine all the time I get out. It has been a few months since I have been hunting due to weather and now a shoulder problem. Hope you have great luck on your next hunt.
  17. Great job on the video, and keep up the good hard work.
  18. Very good hunt in my book, and it sounds as though you had a good conversation with the rabbit.
  19. Nice finds there, just wish I could have blown up the picture so I could get a better look at everything. Happy hunting on your next outing.
  20. Steve, I am sorry for not reading this sooner as you have cleared up some things that I had thought about. Since I am fairly new to this I think this was one of the most useful articles I have read. Thank you For all the hard work you do for everyone on this forum.
  21. Very nice good luck on your next hunt.
