The equipment may be old, but when I get out my old detector it can always find something for me. Whatever you use to dig with just remember to always try and put everything back the way it looked before. I bought a cheap sod cutter from a local farm supply for $10 and it has worked well for me. I also have a shovel similar to the one that you have and would not trade it. Sometimes I have found detectors at the local Goodwill Store for only $20 that actually work, and I always check out estate sales for a bargain also. What part of the country are you in?

One Of My Coolest Finds!
2Valen replied to TreasureHunter5's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Great find and I am just wondering what you were using at the time and what it was showing on the detector. That would be a heck of a signal to understand I think. -
Did You Find A Nugget In A Black Velvet Bag?
2Valen replied to mn90403's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Simon please start using a handcuff briefcase so you don't lose anymore. -
Phrunt, As always you have covered everything I would have suggested, and explained some of the differences between the units. Speedman is lucky to have the information that you have suggested to him. For me I would have to go with the Vanquish and the spare coils that go with it, because of its capabilities. Even though it is not waterproof it is still a great machine. Good luck on your decision that you are about to make and let us know the outcome on what you get please.

Nationwide Coin Shortage
2Valen replied to Glenn in CO's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Well it had to happen since everyone had to stay at home, no kids going to the corner store, and small business's closed to the public. Than should show who really runs the country, small business and the younger population. -
Great hunt as since the lock down just who has been at the beach. There are no crowded beaches and won't be for a while, so I know that you had a very good hunt and some nice finds. Wish you luck on your next outing.

Golden Mask Telescoping Shaft Rebuild
2Valen replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Steve I love what you did with that, and I think I want one. So now I have a project to do. Thanks for sharing with us and hope I can do it right. -
The 800 is very good for any situation that may arise and with the latest update just can be beat in my opinion. That was the main reason I purchased the 800 in the first place, and I am glad I had. Hope this helps.

Disappointing Morning

Glad to hear that and hope it works out well for you. -
I use park 2 in the factory settings with no problems, and find that the factory settings work best for me and my 800. Learn your machine and all of it's little sounds and it will serve you well as there is no magic bullet to find only what you want.

Disappointing Morning
2Valen replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Sorry to hear about the problems Steve, and hope the factory gets the problem fixed for you. They should send you a couple of the connectors for free and a little extra for the headaches. Let us know what happens, and good luck on the fix. -
White’s Electronics Done After 70 Years
2Valen replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in White's Metal Detectors
Sad to see them go, but I believe that they will be bought out by someone else for the reasons that so many have already stated. Last year I almost bought a Whites, but decided on the 800 because of things it will do. -
Good luck on finding the ring and wish you luck on finding the stone. I have seen several with the red heart in them as they were popular back in the 70's.

Thinking About Not Taking This Equinox 800 Under Water
2Valen replied to Rick N. MI's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Since it is under warranty fill your bath tub and place your unit in it overnight. If it leaks send it back for replacement, and then try the replacement the same way. I read that on another thread here and it sounds good to me. -
She just doesn't want the gator to have an upset stomach. Nice hunt and good luck on your next hunt.

Never go to just one jeweler now days, some are just out to make money off the unsuspecting customer. I would believe a tester before just one jeweler, don't lose out on the ring it is very nice.

Looks like regular old limestone that I see all the time around here in central Illinois.
