  1. What else can I say as everyone else has already said the obvious except GREAT HUNT! Keep up the great hunting and post some more.
  2. Beautiful pieces that you have found, one day you will have to show me how to find something as nice as that. Thanks for sharing the pic's.
  3. I believe you are correct and my friend is wrong, as I was finally able to enlarge the photo today and see the plate better. Kac, I am sorry for the misinformation from my earlier post and I should have looked closer before I posted.
  4. No it does not mean that at all, but they will not be walking out.
  5. It is also a cement quarry on the Mississippi and that is where they had found fossils and some gold nuggets. I didn't know if that was the location you were referring to or not. There are several creeks and rivers that do have gold and silver in them where you are at.
  6. Nice find, but what type of quarterback would be wearing that? What was the depth that it was at when you dug it up. I have had some shallow targets that rand up the same that I had passed on in the past. I really should be digging up those numbers, but am still new with the 800. Thanks.
  7. Great finds and yes that is for a lantern wick, some of the old churches had lanterns hanging for their ceilings and I just wonder if that is one of them. How long is that wick knob as the ceiling lantern wick knobs were closer to 6 inches, and the standard lanterns were 4 inches.
  8. I agree and if anyone thought that I would do that is missing the humor in what I had said. It was meant jokingly and it is sad that people have to put up with thieves today. However if someone did come into my home and I had to protect myself they would not walk out on their own.
  9. Actually that tag was from a sewing machine, the tags for the seats were smaller and not riveted to the seat. The winner is sewing machine, nice find Kac as those tags are very hard to find.
  10. There was a thread on this subject a while back and here is a link to it. LS Pelso Headphone Review Best Waterproof Headphones For Equinox?
  11. Great find and wish you more luck like that on your next hunt. I will ask a friend if he knows what that company used to make as he is into the antiques more than I am anymore.
  12. I think you are talking about the Davenport area and the quarry has been known for fossil finds and some gold deposits from the glaciers. It has been a while since I have heard about any finds since the mid 1970's but I think a closer look in in store for that item. Does Continental ring a bell with you?
  13. Nice finds there and hang the horse shoe up for good luck.
  14. Welcome mrtune, The 800 is one of the best on the market right now for it's capability in almost any situation that you will come across. I use it and am still learning each time I have it out hunting. A detector should be purchased for the area and you are in and what you plan on hunting with it. The 800 fits every category that I am wanting to hunt and that is everything underground. I want the coins, rings, gold, silver, and everything else of value that I think is kind of neat.
  15. Why waste a perfectly good .38 in that manner. Just dig a nice hole, make sure there is no gold in it, throw in the claim jumper and fill in the hole. I just don't understand why you would of wanted to lose a gun like that. Don't forget to plant a nice little tree over the hole and protect the environment.
  16. Very nice, wish you more luck on your next hunt.
  17. I thought I read that somewhere before. Thanks anyway just a refresher course.
  18. Fantastic finds you are making on the gold coins, but please save some of them for us poor newbies. Wish you luck in the future.
  19. Steve, After reading the specs on it, I just wonder how long it will take them to raise the price and market it as a relic and gold hound.
  20. Good to see some nice gold being found, keep up the good work!
  21. Currently I can't find one online that is for sale anywhere in the USA. Stay away from Craigslist for sure and just purchase a new unit from a good seller. There are to many fake units out there that will rip you off in a heart beat. Big Boys Toys had one but it is gone now, but for another $100.00 you can get a brand new 800. Most of the time someone will knock off just a $100.00 to sell their unit if it has a warranty left on it. So my best advice is to get the new unit. Sorry if it is out of your budget but I will be honest with you about this.
  22. Nice finds and hope you dig up some more on your next hunt. Good Job!
  23. Beautiful finds, and I really hope you dig some more of them. Love seeing that history come back to life.
  24. Great hunting and great writing about it. Glad to see you find the nice shiny stuff on your trip, won't your girlfriend be happy now.
