  1. Do I see numbers on the button? They could be latitude and longitude markings, which would place it near Vietnam area. I believe I am making out 140 above the building and I am not sure about the other number markings. It could be any country on that line, and if so as old as it is I would have to guess that a British sailor picked it up while in the area coming back from China.
  2. Beautiful coin and what history behind it.
  3. I was wondering the same thing as I had a ring like that made from 2 tone gold, and yes when I dropped it I could hear a higher than normal tone from it. I think it was because of the way it was made, almost hollow in the top.
  4. Is it going to be the 600 or the 800, and what are you going to name it when it arrives.
  5. Great finds while this virus thing is going on, glad to see you staying away from people and having fun at the same time.
  6. Steve if I were to pay that kind of money for one of those from Christie's I better get the whole rock. Great article that tells how much they could bring should we be able to find something like those, then cut them up and shine them up.
  7. You are so right about what you have said. During 2 World Wars, the Germans had people go and dig the ground for the same coins so they could melt them down to pay for the war efforts. They left very few coins in the ground and they are much harder to find than anything here in the USA. Very few are in museums and what you have found most people would take a lifetime to find. Great hunt and I wish you the best of luck to find many more.
  8. Nice video, with what they had back then they were very good at finding and removing the gold. Wish they would have left some of the large pieces for people today. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Great finds and a very nice bracelet, good luck on your next hunt.
  10. I really like the clarity of the Bourbon I would have to say it is really smooth going down. You said something about some coins or something, I will have to look for them.
  11. Very nice finds you have uncovered, and I hope you find many more.
  12. Like your classroom and the finds that you have dug up in such short of time. Thanks for taking us along while you kept people away from you.
  13. Great hunt and looks like a great trip. Good luck and may your next hunt be better.
  14. Some of the power lines are now using wifi and will interfere with the 800 also. I live in the rural area and I have the same problem when I get to close to the power lines or near a house with a strong wifi signal. Steve gave some very good reading on the subject.
  15. Sometimes if the case has been damaged to a point where they can't replace the insides they just replace the entire lighter. They have done that for my father, and myself on several occasions. They even went the extra mile for my father when his was no longer repairable and sent him a brand new lighter with the Sea-bee's emblem that was on it when he bought it back in 1942. They even sent him a letter thanking him for his service. They are very nice to the older service members.
  16. I did forget about a new up and coming detector called the Vanquish. There are excellent reviews from people on here that prove just how good it is. Minelab Vanquish 540 Pro-Pack Waterproof Metal Detector with 12" and 8" Coils you can search this out and find it even cheaper than the 600. Good luck on your decision, and let us know what you get.
  17. I also have the Tracker IV, and when I looked at all the detectors I decided on the Equinox. I did my homework on the 600 and the 800 and chose the 800 for one simple reason, what if I ever had the chance to go prospecting out west. For that reason I decided to go with the 800 as I live in central Illinois there is not that much gold reported. However I am going to do a search at a friends property that may have had an old mine on it. I do plan on going prospecting some day and with the 800 I won't need to purchase another detector to do it. I fully understand money situations so I put mine on a credit card and pay it off slowly over time. I can get out now that warmer weather is almost here and save up the change I find to help pay it off. Welcome to the forum and we are here to help each other.
  18. Glad to see you finding some nice coins and that stud is a really nice find. You can always use the clamps around the house for car repairs so that is not bad either. Good luck on you next hunt.
  19. I also believe that others will make comments on this, but as you have stated learning the equipment with the factory settings first is the most important process of the detector and the operator. I am still learning my system and have almost become part of the detector and I think that at the end of this year I might begin to play with the settings more. The way the new detectors are made with the software and updates, they have become very reliable for the users in the factory modes.
  20. Good method as I have learned so far, what did the ring show up as and was it gold or silver.
  21. I'm with you and I would even split the cost of a good backhoe. I also suggest a really big truck to haul the nuggets at the end of the week. I would only sleep every other day to keep things moving.
  22. Might be fun to go to it and learn from some of the people there. I really have to think about it.
  23. Wish I knew what type of soil that was to be so hard to dig.
  24. I am not sure what mode that is, as there is Park 1 and 2, field 1 and 2, beach 1 and 2, and then gold 1 and 2. Are you talking about gold mode? I have used Field 1 for the volleyball sand and have done pretty good, not sure if that was the best but here in Illinois it worked for me.
  25. Great video and thank you for sharing it. Love seeing videos that are informational such as those.
