  1. I don't recall anything in the video about the use of mercury or the potato being used for the removal of mercury. You are correct that potato have been used for retort, but I think this was a video for melting gold into an ingot. Probable still good advise to do this outdoors.
  2. No "off topic forum" please. This site is about prospecting and nothing else.
  3. Thank you for spending your time to make this thread. It has been enjoyable to read and the gold is unbelievable!
  4. Your video makes me wish I was there hunting with you!
  5. Time well spent. You could have been at work like me!
  6. That's a great looking meteorite. Planning a trip to take out my 10 year old. Hope he finds something like that!
  7. Very nice Peg! Looks like my territory in the Motherload and really makes me want to get out with the side-by-side and dog as well! Congrats on the nice nugget shooting.
  8. 4th pic down looks like a pretty nice looking nugget also, so does the gold she is holding...
  9. Congrats on a fantastic find!
  10. Well done! Gold nuggets big or small, I like them all!
  11. Well done! The first is always the hardest. Hope to see you posting many more gold finds with your new detector.
  12. That's a nice wash plant setup! The oversized tailings look very clean. What are the different stages of the plant?
  13. The talk by most "in the know" has been that it's going to be great for beginners. Most of the people on these forums are far from beginners. I am purchasing this detector for my 9 year old son. I bought him a 2300, but it is just too heavy for him. This new VLF should be a lot easier for him to use. When he gets stronger, he can use the 2300 more often. This is a very reasonable price for what you get.
  14. There was a used 7000 advertised for sale on all the forums a couple weeks ago for asking price of $5500.
  15. They don't look like "bits" to me. Chunks would be a better way to describe them! Very nice!
  16. Did you check to make sure that the long shell wasn't crimped at the opening? I always open/empty every shell casing found detecting after learning how the old timers sometimes used spent cartridges to store gold.
