My brother found this old tin in the early 2000s in the tin was a notice for the discovery of a load claim the king of Arizona dated either 1903 or 1905 the writing is in pencil so has faded away. Steve if this is not the proper thread please move it to the correct one, thanks.

It was the biggest lode gold mine of Yuma county, so much so that the entire range of mountains once named Stone House mountains was changed to Kofa mountains.  Kofa is King of Arizona and most of that area is now closed to prospecting in a wildlife refuge.  I went to Kofa High School in Sunny Yuma and never understood why we were the Kofa Kings until I started researching gold prospecting areas.  A great bit of history and I'm trying to find a home for the documents.

We always wondered where the name Kofa came from and now we know i sure do hope Steve can find a good home for  that  tin and its' contents.

I actually love those kind of finds more than a 1/4 oz nugget.  Nice history save and thanks for sharing.
