Went out for a couple of hours this morning. I find that the 2nd day after a big rain (we got 8"+ in two days) is better than the day after. It was a nice day, pretty cool and the deer flies are finally on the decline. I loaded up with Cutter and headed out to the steamboat landing, I have been mowing small portions of it for access to the river and to hunt the dirt as well. Can't do the whole thing, it's quite a few acres.

I cleared this ~30x40' space that I think was where a small building was, there is brick and lots of iron. It's a challenge to find anything so I went for deep iffy signals that were for the most part repeatable.

I wasn't disappointed, great conduction today. Got the usual junk:20210614_200045.thumb.jpg.7f14bc150d7b0819a757088b567a41a6.jpg

Lamp parts, what might be gun parts, and shotgun shell ends. A couple nails. The round disc appears to be the back of a wristwatch, there are no markings.

Dug a couple of wheats, a 1918 and one with no discernible date. The latter was 8" down under a root. Some chrome plated object, probably recent.20210614_201124.thumb.jpg.61fc2fe1d01030ad5838c18612f9b2b2.jpg

The buckles were the most interesting things, first is a suspender buckle similar to one Chase found here, with a patent date:20210614_201141.thumb.jpg.ac7e80731940b6618be9e62746982c3c.jpg

Second is what I think is from the 1700s, not sure whether it is for a shoe or knee:20210614_201222.thumb.jpg.b668bdc51465b0a55a08053227818896.jpg

Unfortunately the rounded plate is twisted, I don't dare try to fix it.

Last is another of the clip type buckles, this makes #3 and is the most spectacular of them all. I have the other half. This one is the most ornate:20210614_201207.thumb.jpg.652afeb4a45087618f8a4f861b86fe02.jpg

Got new headphones I'm going to try out there tomorrow.

Those buckles are awesome. Very unique. I like the middle one the most.

Thanks! This area has had activity from the Mid 1600s to the Mid 1900s, you never know what you'll find. Of course I'm here now but I'm not leaving change or buckles 😀 maybe some golf cart parts...  🤔

The middle buckle is really neat it must have been really cool when new.  Nice relic finds F350.

Once you clear out all the iron, that should unmask more targets! The larger the iron pieces, the more area they will mask! Depending on the concentrations, sifting may be another option! Lots of cool items are non metal, but undetected items will sift out too!

Love all the great finds so far! Keep at it!👍👍

Odd that it got completely twisted. The tab was twisted around. I would love to get that straight so I can have a shot at knowing its use, but I know it would break.

Clearing a high potential site is well worth the effort if you can. Well done!

Yes,  I have made the mistake of trying to straighten a few Relics and didn’t end well.  Leonard Short Designs repairs such things.  May be too expensive though.  He appears to restore civil war items.

Wow that's a heckuva site! He may be the person that does restorations for the store I got my Equinox from. Really great work. Thanks.
