  1. Welcome to the forum and thanks for taking the effort to join.
  2. Looks like a possible sedimentary concretion (elongate concretion) to me. Could just as easily be a waterworn piece of sandstone. https://www.priweb.org/index.php/education/education-projects-programs/earth-101/concretions
  3. Kind of amazing all the U.S. people with 3D printers anxious to make something that nobody is doing this. I sent an email to the outfit that makes the XP aftermarket dodads like a stronger battery connector and suggested it. Heard nothing back though.
  4. Yeah, it does at a guess sound like the dip in saltwater caught up with you. Even long term use on beaches but not in the water can be detrimental due to salt spray in the air. We are just guessing though. Nokta/Makro was in the midst of setting up a new and better service center and I am not sure where they are in that process. That was back in February so they should be dialed in by now? NOKTA MAKRO SERVICE CENTEREmail: service@noktamakrorepairs.comTel: 706-619-2601Address: 7579 Nashville Street Ringgold, GA 30736
  5. Gain and sensitivity normally are the same control. Reducing sensitivity always increases stability but obviously it is a trade off. You have to find the best balance between raw power and stability - useable power. The old rule of thumb is increase gain/sensitivity until the machine becomes to unstable/noisy, then back off a hair.
  6. Wow, I am very excited for you Steve and I admit a little jealous. I am sure it will be quite an adventure and I hope you find a pile of gold!! Seems like half the forum members here are headed to Australia this year. I am proud the forum has been able to facilitate some connections made around the world. It does not get any better than that! ?

  8. I am not arguing at all with any of that. They do read the forum so your message has been heard.
  9. Looks like the old info is mostly gone as confirmed by the mods.... http://forums.whiteselectronics.com/forum/chat/60-forum-is-back
  10. The SPP has the same board as the TDI SL and if that is the case the connection is clearly marked. At least this thread indicates that is the situation and therefore should be an easy modification. https://www.prospectingaustralia.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7635&p=1 Here is a picture of the circuit board from the SPP I had in 2015 - it had a TDI SL circuit board. The COND. MODE connection is in lower left near headphone plug in. Click photo for larger view. W White's SPP circuit board
  11. Only Aussies and Kiwis know how to find gold with a metal detector and so have pictures to prove it. Yanks are all talk and no pictures.
  12. The price is very low and that makes the detector suspect. Use the serial number verifier at the bottom of the Minelab Stop Counterfeits Page to verify used detectors. Anyone that won't give you the serial number - pass. Of course they could give you a good serial number and send you something else. Your best clue is always price. People are desperate to find a “great deal” and so it is easy pickings for those selling “great deals”. Genuine dealers all advertise within a narrow fixed price range. Anything new that is substantially under that price is probably counterfeit. Used is another matter obviously but there are people buying cheap knockoffs and selling as used also. Buyer beware. The only safe strategy buying new is stick with legit known dealers - avoid oddball discounters with super low prices. even when buying used it is best to find out what the normal used price is and look out when the price is exceptionally low. There are so many fake GPX detectors now I would have a difficult time buying one used unless I was very comfortable with the seller. The scary part is an honest person could get a counterfeit, not know it, and then resell it. Seriously, if too good to be true it likely is a scam.
  13. The ground in Reno is as bad or worse than some nugget detecting locations. The ground here is loaded with magnetite. VLF detectors get about 50% of the depths you see quoted on the east coast.
  14. It does look like a major crash with no recent database backup, so they are just starting over from scratch.
  15. DeepTech is introducing a metal detector very similar to what Tesoro might have done if they had updated the Tejon - check out the new DeepTech Vista X. 16 kHz with fast switching dual discrimination controls.
  16. 18. Good to see you are out and about finding a little gold Tom - thanks for posting!
  19. Just honest opinions... nothing wrong with that. There is a distinct difference between critical commentary and senseless product bashing. If there is anyone that likes the weight or the price of the GPZ it would be a shocker.
  20. There is a newer thread with the latest info which I have bumped up to be more visible....
  21. I was not too worried about this year.... but that could mean just in time for Christmas. Can you believe it is already May? The year is just blowing by for me so no matter when it is it won't be long!! For me if it came out real soon I would have to just jump on one with fingers crossed. If it is a winter introduction I can afford to wait and watch until spring.
