I wonder if they will eventually sell individual EQX pods. Before I learned how good the EQX is at gold jewelry hunting I was toying with getting a GM1000 for those tasks and I noticed that they sell the GM components separately. Already having spare rod bits you can get a control unit, single coil and AA battery pack for a lot less than the whole package.

When you say “filter” are you referring to the noise cancel setting??

Just do it. If you’re new to the machine just start with park1 and hunt away. Pay attention to any patterns that develop as to where good targets are located. If you manage to hunt everywhere before they move more dirt then try park2 or alter settings in 1 and go over it again. Usually with construction areas they work so fast that you usually don’t get to hunt it all. Put the coil to the soil and go find some goodies!!🤠

Definitely do dig them Phrunt!! My last two gold rings were a pull tab signal and a zinc penny signal. Both were in places I’ve detected before and can almost guarantee that I passed them because it was hot and I’d already dug my share of similar ID junk targets.

Just dug a nice zinc penny too!!!! This was a solid 19 on the Equinox at about 2-3”. 16.6grams of 10K. Now to do a little research and see if I can find this kid by his nickname on the ring. The other is 10k gold filled over sterling.

The only problem with not digging the foil in a playground is that any little gold jewelry that a kid is likely to loose( broken chains, clasps, earrings, gold baby rings) is going to register in the same zone as those bits of candy wrapper foil. Its a daunting job digging all that trash but most places the persistence will be rewarded with sweet shiny gold, albeit little tiny gold. I like to refer to it as “urban-prospecting” LOL I love my EQX for the majority of my detecting but in a playground I will always use a Tesoro Compadre or Mojave. When you get the sweep speed right you can find targets within a foot of those big metal poles. Best advice is to place some common targets you want to detect near the poles and play with the settings until you can find them. Varying the distance from the poles and sensitivity of the detector will teach you what to listen for.

Finally took a look at the website. It says the EZ wander module is compatible with the Kruzers. Have to find a dealer that has them now!

Depends where or what you are going to use it for. If you are looking for a Compadre or Mojave for park/playground gold jewelry hunting then by all means get one! Beyond that I’d say it’s up to personal preference. Any Tesoro, even a 20+ year old model is still capable of finding treasures despite what anyone tells you about the necessity of multi-tones and visualID numbers. Just depends on what you prefer. They appear to be going under as a business but no one really knows for sure. Odds are that a new machine from a dealer will give you years of trouble free use but there is always a chance of needing repairs. P.S. if the dealer you speak of has any new Compadres in stock please message me their contact information so I can buy another spare for the closet!!!

I wouldn’t put too much stock in those FB photos or the post that had v-flex along with the suspected model numbers. Both were originally on those “click-bait” metal detector sites that quite often have completely bogus stuff.

With the Multi IQ logo being present in the advertising/promo so far, even if it’s two frequencies with Multi IQ processing at a $350-550 price point, it’s really going to shake up that price range. The others will be scrambling to get a water proof machine, let alone multi freq, to the market to compete. The NokMak Simplex seems like a viable competitor but with early info saying a second quarter release it seems likely that they are still working out some kinks in the production or possibly software.

NokMak uses a proprietary wireless system so no go on any standard BT earbuds. You would need to use a separate BT transmitter. However being that they pay attention to forums and what users are looking for, if enough people showed interest they would probably bring something to market for us!!!!!!

We are far less “cultured” today than 100 years back before radio. Most homes had a musical instrument or two, violins, pianos, guitars, accordians, organs.....the list goes on and on. That’s why we find so many harmonica reeds. Before radio and the music business came along and found a way to sell entertainment people made their own music and entertainment.

Great news!!! Good to hear they are at least repairing the machines that were sent in. Would be better if they put a notice on the website so people that sent machines in for repair weren’t in the dark about ever seeing them again. Maybe there is still hope of some way to save the brand. Doubtful at this point but I have enjoyed hunting with the Compadre and Mojave so much that I will hate to see them become relics themselves.

There was a GPZ on eBay for bid that had a pic that said email/message and buy it for $2k. The listing was gone in two days. Seemed like a potential counterfeit unit. Someone always seemed to bite on those “to good to be true” deals!

Only manual GB Tesoro I ever used was an Outlaw. It seemed to gain a little depth by GBing normally then turning a quarter turn negative. If I remember correctly the “super tune” also involved a maxed threshold setting as well, but I’ve never used a delta “hot” Tesoro Also there are some tips on “power balancing” the detector in disc mode. Have to crank the sensitivity, if memory serves, and then turn GB positive until it chatters then go back negative until it’s right on the edge of stability.

Curious if anyone has tried one of these variations on the telescopic rod for the EQX? Says the mount for control pod is from a mold rather the 3-d printed. Congrats on the Barber!!!! Those roofing nails with the metal washer can be a pain. Often times the alloy isn’t really iron so they will high tone all day. Definitely worth digging some more after finding that dime thou!!!
