  4. My grandmother is from York, Maine. Her family history goes back to the Mayflower.
  5. I had a similar problem a a local beach and found that some sand and black sand got between the coil and coil cover. Once I got it cleaned out the problem seemed to disappear and was more stable. Just a wild guess and if that has happened to others let me know.

  8. Nice finds, I would have just tossed them thinking that they were just hot rocks. One of these days I need to learn about the difference of some of the rocks that I find. Good luck on your next hunt!

  11. Glad to have you here, and I also have panned for gold and silver near Calamine. Have you tried that area yet? I have an 800 also that I use and enjoy sluicing and panning when I get the chance. Please post some of your finds with pictures when you get a chance. Good luck and good hunting.
  12. Almost any of them would work, but you would also have to have armed security team to watch your back.
  13. Here is an excellent article from one of the forums here and there are several other that you may be interested in reading also. The 540 is a little brother of the Equinox 600 unit from Minelab and many people do like and use it. So here is a link and hope you like it.
  14. I believe that could be normal, however I let my 800 get down lower before I charge it. That way there won't be a memory build up and cause the battery to go bad. When I charge it I will also leave it plugged in over night to ensure a full charge. Just my way of doing things and it works for me, I have always had long hunts with power to spare.   15. Welcome to the forum CaptainEd, we are glad that you are here. I am sure that someone will be able to help you with the pairing question as soon as you find a detector. First off what price range are you looking at for a detector. From that there are many choices for you, and if you need it to be waterproof let us know. That helps everyone to zero in on a detector that you will like and be able to use.

  18. Looks like Antalay, is it? The beach looks to have a lot of black sand in it, and like I had stated before beautiful country. I spent 3 weeks there with my grandfather when he was doing some work in the area.
