Projectile Or Other?
Valens Legacy replied to Fskafish's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Looks like one of the brass balls that was used to grind gun powder like JCR has said. The reason I say that is there were many places here in the mid west that made ammo during WWII and I have seen several looking items like that from people near me. They had several of them in their home because when they had flattened spot on them, they could set of an explosion. Just North of Taylorville, Illinois is old sites of about 50 buildings where they manufactured the powder and they were about 100 yards apart from each other. Hope this helps. -
Interesting question on if a metal detector can find it, that is a good question to the point that I don't have an answer. Because it is used in thermonuclear weapons should I quit taking it? Good luck on finding out how to detect it.

Any Guess What This Might Be???
Valens Legacy replied to cuniagau's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
The type of flower that it is to look like is a common bridesmaids earring style. What you are showing is a high end type and hard to find. as it was probably made for the wedding. Some of that type start at around $2,800 and goes up very quickly. Good luck on finding out who made it. Great find even without the piece that goes through the ear. -

Under Water Gold Prospecting
Valens Legacy replied to Gold Catcher's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Grandfather and I have made a few that looks like a tire pump, they are very good and can reach up to 15 feet in depth with a 1 1/4 inch hose. There are plenty of plans on the net for them and we found out for the valves to use some of the super balls that you get out of a machine in stores. We would set up near the creek or river, someone in the water, hose went to a 20 gallon keg, while the other person did the pumping. When I get back home from the coast I will take some pictures and send them to you. -
Can Anyone ID This Odd Buckle?
Valens Legacy replied to SwiftSword's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
They would have been mounted towards the back of the wagon so that they could tie down a load from top to bottom or to keep items from falling out the back. I have seen a couple of farm wagons in this area that still use similar straps. The Amish community near me has them on most of their wagons, and the straps are thick leather. -

Can Anyone ID This Odd Buckle?

Looks to be 1/2 of a leather strap holder, the other side would have the hook at the end of the leather. Hope this helps as it is a nice find. -

Nice coin for sure and odd that it was found there. I didn't know that type of coin would be in that area, but I'm just a little new at this. Good luck on your next hunt.
