GPZ 7000 Swing Control Arm

Recommended Posts

Any suggestions on repairing or retrofit the swing arm on the 7000? This is the 2nd one I've broke over the years. Any ideas or suggestions appreciated. Being a carpenter I would just add some glue, strap and screws to it. So keeping it non metal and plastic is out of my wheelhouse.

Might want to patent that Scott 🤣

Actually looks more versatile and hard wearing than the original 👍🏻

JW's been going through the same problem, first one broke, bought a new one, new one broke.  They're a pretty weak design.

The Aussies have made an aftermarket one, not sure how much better if at all it is especially being what looks to be 3D printed but its a different way of doing it that perhaps maybe more robust and reliable.

I seem to have lost the ability to put links into text so here is the dirty great big link to it to see it properly.  https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/275177426585?hash=item4011da4e99:g:WB8AAOSwsJtjDrfZ&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8Gka1hTOv%2ByesxI1k48b%2FFUeDNIitQtzn18MkxKioDYbFUjYIqBrKSwCoDAFgixluIT1SFoLJXxDoj7Eyr%2FuMGvwQNpCaG4ESt0Mhg26CnGy26DxIP%2FMkjfgdunToNrRU%2FgT5nIHXrv8fJg4O91f%2FemcRSuF7y147pxRHrvlCy8XnVg3jaReRJ5MBmIG3uLisSxtfJJ61UO05IiBXxyOS50LMTG%2BevArFDRl69D1qCARGk%2BRTTM16ru8II6YYRADMnHwHdGerJNtzRNppg81k60y%2B4Yj54iDzoVkVhO8jHnhHXd77L9cg7Q6cFSi7GcGEA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_yXyeSoYg

Hey Scott,

Good repair.  Sorry I didn't have a better answer for it, as there are not too many options for aftermarket beyond the stock replacement one.  Doc does make the SAGA Swing Arm, but the reviews are 50/50, some love it, some don't.

We always have the GA Replacement Kit, GA10 Replacement Swing Arm or Doc's SAGA in stock.

Reports are 50/50? You sure you're not including that first iteration of which all of those were replaced?

I have not had one complaint nor one return.  All I get are compliments about how much better it is that other Swing Arms.

Any complaint about any product you always CC me via email and I don't recall any complaints.  I have had questions from people who have never used a Swing Arm before because they are not sure how to use it correctly.  Even though we give extensive instructions in color.  But as far as customers trying to upgrade from the Minelab Swing Arm, those folks have had nothing but praise.

I have had a few people snap the rod holder off when they dropped their detector and we have always replaced the clip no charge.

The SAGA not only swings away from the detector rod, it moves up and down.  You can't break it.  It actually lets you STEER your coil and takes a lot of the stress off of detecting.
