Bit Of Gold Porn For You

Recommended Posts

Quite a lot of people are finding big gold around Clermont, and Palmerville always pops up when someone's onto big nuggets in Queensland.    I think it's cool Palmerville sell season and day passes to look for gold there.

During the next ice age I'll fly over and give it my best shot and finding a decent nugget.

@phrunt Winter is as close as you'll get to an ice age in Queensland, as you probably remember. Nice and dry (usually) and plenty of flies and snakes @Gold Ryder there too....cant have you missing out on all the Aussie fun 😉

@Norvic How come you missed that gold? 🙄 Mind you, so did Dale & Trent from the Gold Hounds, & JP. Your back yard is a BIG back yard though.

All Trents fault he nicked off to WA.

As you say they have done nothing wrong - you are only being critical of those other people who are ruining things for the rest of us. Greed brings out the worst in people and due to that we frankly have a lot of scumbags attracted to what we do. Sad but true.

Sad but true. I’ve been finding some pretty good gold, including good footage, and my first inclination is to share the joy I feel. But, I unfortunately know full well what it attacks when you broadcast it. Maybe one day when I’m done on the gold fields I’ll do like you did and post some long form memories.

Jim Straight always used to say "Silence is Golden". I've blabbed pretty freely over the years but always with an eye to sometimes obscuring locations or in many cases waiting a year or more. I will say though that telling those stories and documenting them like I have is one of the best things I have ever done. Memory fades with time, mine especially, and if I waited too long to tell the tales a lot would have been lost forever.

It is pretty easy to take photos or footage & not give locations away. Some might recognise a general area, province or state due to the lay of the land or types of bush/growth but not an exact spot. Those that do are, well, asking for trouble. So point taken Norvic with your concerns. They are real & have been happening for years.

It was great to follow the Gold Hounds but they stopped showing there stuff due to people stalking them in trying to find/follow to their locations. Not to mention the amount of lost time from actually doing what they needed to do in finding gold by doing their videoing & editing etc. After all, it was their living & the time is precoius when out there.

The lure of making big money by having lots follow your vids along with pumping your ego, is the go. I followed one for a bit because I wished to support but judging by the continual 'bombardment' on mobile by 'allied' 'followers' that one is making money. It is wise to follow none and not support what will turn to a corrupt pyramid type scheme when/if successful. Of course the great majority are just pie in the sky dreamworld stuff.

Some of the channels I follow say it takes them 30-40 hours to video, then edit the video for YouTube. These people are caravaning around Australia and have plenty of free time + treat it as a job. For someone who holds down a regular job or needs gold to support themselves as you say the time would be better spent detecting.

Some reckon the revenue they get from YouTube is roughly $140 per 10,000 video views. The majority of prospecting channels have few views as our niche is small compared to others.

*It seems by the view counts finding a big nugget is the fast track to building a channel and getting LOTS of views.
