  2. Nice work Clark! Now go find Confucius.... strick
  3. Sounds Half Horse so I should be able to get along with it. Hopefully it's not too stubborn.. strick
  4. I don't have a particular spot to suggest but if you are looking for jewelry I would seek out lakes with swimming holes or smaller beaches. Of course you could always head to the high Sierras and try your luck at the elusive large gold nugget. Good luck to ya and please post some of your finds. For a phpotograpoher you sure don't post many photos strick
  5. Nice work Mitchell ! that Topaz ring is very large. I bought my mother a 14k topaz two years ago with a large stone but not as big as yours. Rings are as much fun as gold IMHO. We are heading to Pismo in early November for a three day hunt hope to find something as nice as what you are getting. strick
  6. Theres something about seagulls that I never liked the look of...you have now solidified my conviction lol strick
  7. Funny I was going to say something like that. One of mine might be on the market soon. Good luck out there! strick
  8. Outstanding Peg! That chevron nugget is perfect. Beautiful pictures as usual...Please share your finds from florida as well.... you obviously know why your doing!! strick
  9. I've been interested in the T2 for some time now, but I'm trying hard not to become a detector junkie....Thanks for posting Steve. strick
  10. Nice job sniffing out the gold...it's hard to come by these days...keep us informed on your progress! strick
  11. Never tried mine in the wet but it works great in the dry. One thing to note if you are looking for "Lightweight" The Deus with the 11" coil is nose heavy and I would rather swing my CTX with it's 11" coil even though it's twice as heavy as the Deus....it's very well balanced. Another thing I will say is that bottle caps sound off great with the Deus (somewhere in the 80's if I remember right) Experienced Deus park hunters probably know how to notch these out or know how they sound but I never got the hang of it. My Deus's sole purpose is to sniff out relics in nail infested areas. I had originally bought two of them....one 11" and one 9" Deus. My intention was to use the 11" myself and the 9" was a gift for my wife. Well my wife hated the Deus because of the bottle cap thing so I ended up trading in my 11" model for a new Excalibur with 8" coil which I now use in trashy beaches here in the Delta. Bottle caps usually make a distinctive scratchy low tone with the Excal so I can ignore them if I start getting picky. My Excal is on a carbon fiber shaft so it's fairly light weight and well balanced. My wife's favorite beach detector was her AT Gold. With iron audio on she could disc out the rusted out bottle caps...Then one day I let her use my CTX and that was the end of the AT Gold for her. strick
  12. I had the same question when I found that peace dollar in the park a couple months ago. The logical answer is someone dropped them there a long time ago... and you were the first to get your coil over them. Simple as that strick
  13. No this all makes perfect sense to me...The GM 1000 can replace the GB2 and the Deus for gold prospecting. However the CTX and Impact are coin/relic machines... therefore for them to be on the chopping block...especially the beloved CTX me thinks you know something we don't....Cant wait till September strick
  14. i have both and have found that the stock 6" round will punch a little deeper then the elliptical...at least it seems that way. If I had to get rid of one it would be the elliptical simply because it is about ad heavy as the 11" and does not fold back well when setting the machine on the ground. The 6" round is a MUST HAVE coil for the CTX. Steve I'm a little confused first you said the CTX is not on the chopping block and then later you eluded that it may be? I would rather cut off a my left pinky finger then get rid of my CTX strick
  15. Thanks! I have an extra GPX shaft sitting in my shop doing nothing...I'll see if I can make it work. strick
  16. I saw the thred on "Friendly" when you found the ring....and the drama with the other hunter lol. Personally I don't know if the angel in me would have been able to look for the owner since my wife likes to confiscate my good finds. Your a good man and Karma will certinly be heading your way! GREAT VIDEO ! strick
  17. Good advice. Tire plugs and a mini Air compressor is what I carry into the back country for extended stays....having worked for Big O tires when I was 14 years old. Fixed many a flats. Nice video. strick
  18. My two favorite search modes using discrimination. The first one is called "Doc's ferrous coin"...the second is called "Indians and Silver".Downloaded from Findmall at Link deleted since Findmall Forum update broke all old links. Doc's is no longer there for some reason but just copy the screen shot. I use these when "cherry picking" so to speak. The first pic is "Doc's ferrous coin"...second is "Indians and silver" You won't ever dig a bottle cap with either of these two settings when park hunting. strick
  19. I thought someone might have hacked my computer but good to know all is OK strick
  20. Good on you Mitch for finding the treasure.......the nuggets.... everyone of them are precious.... but rings are my thing too and love finding rings. Wish I could have made the outing but circumstances got in the way again. Heading up there tomorrow for some serious digging....Thanks for posting and hope to meet some of you fellas some day. strick
  21. Just get the coil over it and the GPZ will tell you it's there or not. I found a nickel close to 24 inched deep up in Rye Patch with a sensitivity setting at 7 in Normal ground. This was over a push so I assumed that it was buried by the tractor years earlier. Any way most of the time we are not over the gold which is when we wonder if we are missing anything. This was my GPZ moment about two years ago and I've been going to church ever since strick
  22. Great job on that video. I really enjoyed it. strick
  23. Very entertaining as usual...and I love his videos....hunting parks i'm still a wide open screen type of guy (at times) depending on the specific area of the park. Found a nice religious cross today that would have been notched out with his recommendations on the CTX. Also the large mens gold ring that I posted the other day (12.30 on the CTX) he would have passed up. Even in trashy areas I feel that sometimes running wide open is better then running in Disc...and carefully analyze each target using Target ID and target trace together to determine wether to dig or not to dig. Beach wide open is a good call. strick
  24. Little tid bits here and there can be clues to our next gold nugget. The Nelson creek blurb intrigues me...there was a land slide near there that I was interested in checking out a couple years ago...thanks for posting...so many areas and so little time strick
