  1. There is a epoxy that a friend has used to fix his cracks on his equipment and he gets it from a local auto parts store. It is used to bond plastic to plastic or plastic to metal and sticks like iron. It has not had a problem for over 2 years that I can remember. I will try to find out what the actual name of it is on Wednesday when I see him again.
  2. I am a newbie at metal detecting and was given my detectors from my grandfather. He passed away not to long ago and I have been learning the detectors. I have always left the 800 in the factory settings and have never had any issues finding many nice items with it. For me it has been the easiest unit to use for any type of detecting. I have never put it under water as they have had issues with water leakage and I don't want to damage it, but I have been out in the rain and it has been more wet than I was I do believe that it would benefit your type of hunting areas and make you very happy. You also have a 3 year warranty with it and now you can get the 10x5 CoilTech coil for them. Good luck on your decision and happy hunting.
  3. That is a strange find for sure, I wouldn't want to keep it around me as it is always looking back at you. Good luck on your next hunt.
  4. Nice story, but just a little over my budget for Christmas.
  5. A friend has a small lumber mill that asked me about detectors for the same reason, and both the 800 and the Tracker IV worked fine. He was able to locate about a dozen nails and a few bullets to save his blade. I think almost any name brand detector will do as long as the sense is up to at least 3/4 of the way.
  6. Great find, I am not allowed to dig on the fields where i am at. Good luck on your next hunt.
  7. Great condition of the key, and the dime is also nice looking. Those are the areas that I like to detect, and I try to find where the outhouses used to be. Most of them were about 50 feet from the house, and I have found nice coins leading to and from them. I also check where clothes lines may have been as they were closer to the house, but they produce some nice coins also. The 800 is great for those areas at about sensitivity set at 20 and on park 1 or 2. Good luck on your next hunt.
  8. As everyone has already stated, with time you will get better. I am also doing some of the same things that you describe, and can state for a fact that with time I have gotten better. Soon I will be able to hit the right spot the first time, but for now I sweep one direction turn to another side of the target and sweep again. That gives me a really good point to dig, I sometimes am off by a couple of inches but I have been able to find the target without to much trouble. Good luck and be patient as it will all come together for you.
  9. Welcome to the forum and you are in an area with a lot of history behind it. I can't wait to read some of your posts and see some of your photos also. Good luck and happy hunting.
  10. No it did not, it did the back stroke and then swam on it's back the rest of the way.
  11. Nice finds again, and as Simon has said who would want to carry those around. A few of those and you would have to use 2 belts. Good luck on your next outing! I ran out of likes and will return when I have more.
  12. Nice article, but I think the helo would be to expensive for you. Stay with what you have because I think you like swinging the smaller stuff.
  13. Mostly fine gold, but I have picked up a few 3 and 4 gram nuggets while panning.
  14. As it should be, I was just joking about paying off the detector. For me I am more relaxed when I am out metal detecting. I am still learning the 800 and when I get just a little bit better I plan to have a trip out west for an adventure. Keep on swinging and having a great time out there as long as you can. Good luck on your next hunt.
  15. Great hunting, now all you have to do is to repeat that about 10 more times to pay for the detector. Good luck on your next hunt.
  16. Yes I took my truck, he just parked about 30 feet behind my Expedition. He wanted to be in the shade as I was in the sun.
  17. Beautiful ring for your hunt. Good luck on your next outing and remember to stay safe.
  18. Another nice hunt and some nice pictures, but I just want to know how do you find all those items when your detector is just leaning up against a shovel all the time. Good luck on your next hunt and may you find a few silver dollars.
  19. Welcome to the forum and already a few of the best people have already pointed you in the right direction. I also have the 800 that I got from my grandfather and it is a really great machine. I will be looking forward to read some of your stories and seeing your pictures of your adventures. Any time you need to ask questions please do and know that someone will be able to answer them with the knowledge and skills that are on this forum. Many people and the owner of this forum knows quite a lot about any unit that you might want answers to. Welcome and rest assured that your in good company here.
  20. Great finds and glad to see the shovel fixed right. Good luck on your next hunt.
  21. Should have to worry much about the erosion as with the global warming the oceans will rise to the roof tops in just a few more years. Just kidding, and i have seen similar things happen on a few creeks and rivers near me. I found an old beach area that was washed away and had a few nice coins in the mud below the sand. I remember grandfather say you can't do anything that mother nature can't reverse.
  22. Nice hunting for sure, some people know their machines and can produce some nice gold. I am still learning the 800 and hope to match some of the techniques used by so many others. Good luck on your next hunt.
  23. Great hunting and some nice finds. Good luck and happy hunting out there.
