When grandfather got his 800 and was learning how to use it, he was told many times to dig everything. He passed that on to me and I find it very helpful to get the good stuff, and I also get the scrap items also. There is no fool proof way to dig only one item all the time, and sometimes digging everything gets you the good stuff.

With all the circuit boards that I have, which are bad, I will be looking into this because I know there is a lot of gold contacts and plating used on most of the boards I have for my equipment. Thanks for sharing this story.

I look at it as though every time I come to this site I can learn something new even if I am not able to get out and detect right now. On my 800 with the 10x5 coil it will show a silver dime in the low 20's, and quarters in the mid 20's. I have no idea why but when I see that I know what I am digging.
