kac
Learning the Orx with 9" hf and scouting an older section of a park that many ignore. A lot of can slaw but overall good finds are sparse. Will hit it for deep targets later on but came across a couple of flat buttons not too old maybe turn of the century and this cool butterfly broach. Weighs 8g but has no markings. Base metal is not a pot metal so either platinum or maybe silver with spot gold plating on it. Thinking platinum base because of the detail in the casting. One of the wings got chewed up as it was under the turf and in with some gravel. Don't think it's an old piece just done well. Veins on wings are the base metal. F350Platinum
Wow! Surprised the broach survived at all. Found a bunch with reverse image search (Google Lens), and most are sterling. πΒ Great job digging it.
Joe D.
Β Β I agree with F350! Very delicate piece, and awsome find! Let us know, if you get the metals identified!ππ
kac
Did an acid test so it comes in around 10k. Could be white gold base with spot 14k for color. Unusual one for me and ya surprised it survived at all. Detail on it is pretty good so it suggest it isn't very old. Thanks
Valens Legacy
Great find on the butterfly and I had thought it was gold when I first seen it. Silver would have been more damaged than what I seen, I have seen them done in gold and silver before. Great find and happy hunting on your next trip. Chase Goldman
Nice.Β Don't know how it rang up (guessing mid conductor) but platinum would likely ring towards ferrous and silver base would ring high, so your acid test makes sense.
Joe D.
Β Β Good thing it wasn't under one of those "magic blanking targets" else you would have neverΒ found it!!ππ€£Β ππΒ Β
