Marketing Similarities Between The Legend And The Manticore

Recommended Posts

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and well, the Legend was a bit of a copy of the Equinox, and now its marketing is becoming a bit more Manticore like.

Colour schemes, imagery, naming.... all very familiar.

I'm not so sure I like this marketing strategy, they're doing innovate original updates with the Legend, why not take their own path and separate themselves from the competitors.

Hi Phrunt.

When Nokta announced that they were working on the new mode, they called it "Boost Mode".  A Legend owner called it "Beast Mode" mode, and that name took off. After that, when Legend owners started referring to it, just about all were calling it Beast Mode. As such, Nokta decided to go with the flow, and renamed it to Beast Mode.

The image is an altered version of Nokta's original image. It was altered by a YouTuber named Liam, who runs a channel called "History Revisited". Here is the original Nokta image:

Beast must be the favoured buzzword for marketing at the moment, even the car brands are using it.

Well, describing that vehicle as a beast, is much more apt than describing a metal detector as a beast.

When the ladies see us metal detecting, I seriously doubt "beast" comes to their mind 😁

Well, now this beast mode has extended to blender, it's certainly a new trend.

It sounds like a big rig truck term to me . I guess maybe on a tractor or bulldozer.🤔 Definitely could be used to describe that big claw they're using in Baltimore though .

A blender? Seriously , what were they thinking ? They really missed the ball on that swing.🙄 The blender should have had a tornadomode .

On a detector it would obviously be referred to as plundermode !

In plundermode it would only beep over gold or silvarrrrrrrr .🏴‍☠️

Tarsacci started it with their big coil 2+ years ago.

I noticed the similarities too and both elicited an eye roll from me. Personally I don’t care for the silly names of either detector. They just don’t come off as proper names of professional or adult metal detectors. “The Legend” and the “Manticore” come off kind of childish and overblown. This goes for a lot of metal detectors these days that sound more like a dramatic movie title than a metal detector. My neighbor recently asked me what kind of metal detector I was using. “The Minelab Manticore,” I said. “What the hell is a Manticore?” He asked. lol
