  2. Just wondering if one is allowed to prospect in the Trigo Mountain area if it is on the boundary of the Northern Yuma Proving ground? I see the road from Highway 95 runs right through the Proving Grounds to the Colorado River and Ehrenberg. Either dry washing or metal detecting?
  3. All good info seems you are setting it pretty clear to the companies on what we need saved them a bunch of R and D Hope some one figures it out untill then I need at least a vlf and pi
  4. Yeah, I was pretty sure that was the case. They would've been good headphones for the wife. They don't work for me.
  5. I found for sure that the sweet spot on the sensitivity hides among 20 and 25 points before to get falsing above whispers, making troubles and not helping to decide to dig or not. As for the lower separation, under the 4 level it seems to increase this feeling too. The real magic can happens with exaggerated slow coil's motion in places where there's high suspect for targets...On the other hand in this way it takes a life to cover a proper amount of ground😂
  6. Man, you stole that thing! Nice score! Safari was my 1st modern machine after decades away from detecting. Figured that if i liked it, I'd eventually get a CTX (i did). I still keep my Safari as a loaner machine when someone wants to try out detecting. And yes, it paid for itself in clad alone. The Safari is a Silver Magnet and has THE sweetest sound on silver that youll ever hear. I so wish my CTX had that tone.
  7. I think I already know the answer, but can nokta green headphones be paired with any other Bluetooth transmitter?
  8. Simon, there are quite a few folks that are only interested in Gold. They want something simple to operate. The GM1000 fits the bill. The only thing lacking is submersability. Still, it's the highest-selling single-frequency Gold Detector here in the US.
  9. If you were considering making your own skid plates, the plug and ring moulds can be made using a router as GotAu suggested. I knocked up a simple circle cutter to show how I would approach it. If the baseplate of the router is removed, a thin piece of plywood or MDF can be attached using the screws removed from the router base. The black baseplate can be used as a template to drill the holes required. Screws need to be countersunk below the surface of the new baseplate. A small, straight cutter of about 6mm diameter is inserted into the router and a hole is drilled at the appropriate point on the new baseplate to give the diameter required for the ring mould. This needs to be accurate and may require a couple of attempts before the exact precision is achieved. The pivot is attached using a screw and the router then can only move in a circular motion. The router depth is set to about 10 mm and the circular slot is cut. A jig saw then cuts out most of the waste using the centre of the router cut as a guide. A flush trim bit is then inserted into the router to clean up the remainder of the ring. the ring is then perfectly circular in shape and if accurately sized, will perform the task required. A piece of abrasive paper is used to clean up any burrs. The plug as made using the same method but a different centre is required. Measurements need to be taken from the other side of the router cutter when calculating distances. The rest of the construction process is then as what was described earlier. Hope this is of some help to those wanting to play with this process.
  10. I wasn't sure how stripped down the package was. I sent an email to Rusty at Garrett. Detectector, charging cord, 11" Mono coil & cover, and carry bag. It's lacking the extra battery pack, headphones, wireless or otherwise, and the larger coil and cover. This brings it a little closer to the average guy's pocketbook.

  12. So I have an old school yard in the Mississippi river delta that is very sandy and very mild. The kind of place you get max deprh a detector is capable of. With the 11" coil I basically cleaned it out in ATHC, 4 recovery, and 22-24 sensitivity. I have hit it twice with a 26-28 sensitivity and a recovery of 3. I found no more silver. The silver there is some of the deepest I have ever recovered. To tell the truth I don't like going below a recovery of 4. I just can't jell with it. Jacking up the sensitivity in places with low to moderate trash makes for more head aches in my opinion. I have not tried jacked up sensitivity settings in low to no trash areas where you have zero nails and zero modern trash looking for isolated deep targets. I cannot say it wouldn't be helpful in those situations.
  13. Wow ! With the discovery of the photo in this ring the find has gone from great to absolutely outstanding . Dream find . Congrats !
  14. DSMITH, Analog and digital are just different ways of manipulating electrons to one's desire. Analog does it with a continuous but varying flow of electrons. Digital does it by a series of ones and zeros. Neither method has any bearing on the detector's iron unmasking performance. What would make a difference in iron unmasking performance, is how the engineers designed that particular detector. For example, how they designed the iron bias, the algorithms, and the coil.
  15. Now we jump from "patriotic" to love token ring. Not only does it display the patriotic Eagle used by military soldiers, but having his sweethearts photo inside crossed into the Love token collectible. They are rare rings and with both an engraving AND a photograph, that places it well above the love token coin or ring. I found a ring in a union Wisconsin camp with six initials; 3 above and 3 below, each engraved in Spencerian script (the formal script of the mid 19th century). I've recovered lockets with a US officer (standing) and his wife (sitting) but this is the first ring with both engraving and a photo. You must take care about exposing the photo unless it is sealed under glass. Contact with air can lighten or destroy the pic if the glass is missing.
  16. (because the detector sees the multiple targets as one target) I can tell you from personal experience that statement right there is not correct with these newer analog detectors like the Vista X, Golden Mask 4WD and the new Golden Mask 7, there could very well be some digital processing going on with those three detectors as to how much I have no clue other than what I was told about the three I have, i own those three analogs plus a couple more, and you can literally lay a coin (Dime) under a pile of nails and the nails are not even seen but those three detectors I mentioned will see the Non Ferrous Dime only the GM 7 is not a fully Analog detector it is 80% analog and 20% digital Do I think these Analogs are perfect detectors absolutely not things can always be improved upon, but for me since I pretty much dig every good Non Ferrous tone the analogs work great for me, i still have some detectors with a cell phone screen, and have no intentions of getting rid of the ones I have, but right now i am all about the fun and simplicity of the Analogs, and ease of set up for detecting the ground I detect
  17. Looks like a big dog to me, Reese. Could be a really young wolf, Full grown wolves have a track about 5" across. Much bigger than a lion track. Jim
  18. I offered FTP $250 shipped for a new F19 with 10x5 coil on their EBay site and they accepted within minutes. Don’t hesitate to kind of low ball offer if you are interested in something on their EBay site.
  19. I have several XTerra lower shafts that fit all models. They are from my demo models and in excellent condition. 1-short (18 inches), 3 standard size (24 inches). Your choice $25 each plus shipping. I have one standard size Troy lower shaft for $25 plus shipping. One full length Minelab Sovereign (original series) with V clip for $40 plus shipping (includes all 3 pieces and arm cuff) and a one piece light weight Aluminum shaft with arm cuff for $35 plus shipping. (has Minelab arm cuff and drilled for a lower shaft or several land water detectors). Last but not least, a set of new never used LED lights. Comes with 2 LED lights, 2 electrical cords and 2 mounting brackets for a show booth or you can attach to your display cabinet by added a mounting strip. $45 plus shipping. These are very bright and will illuminate a large cabinet or display area.
  20. Gold or silver what? The numbers for gold and silver vary with the object size. Gold in particular can read anywhere on the scale. Metal detectors actually know nothing about metal composition and rely mainly on conductivity and eddy current retention for identification purposes. Size is a big factor and in general on the disc scale small items read low and large items read high.
  21. There are already several threads on this subject you might want to review. They are literally taking offers on eBay, often selling detectors below dealer cost. Getting out of metal detector business to focus on other stuff? Clearing inventory to make way for amazing new lineup of super detectors? Generating some badly needed cashflow? Take your pick or make up your own because nobody knows for sure, just lots of speculation. https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/25921-new-aq-ltd-1300/
  22. What's going on with FT (and their prices)??-----I see the Fisher F-19 (with either 5X10" or 7X11" coil) is now being listed for sale for $284 delivered.-----That's one excellent little detector and at a "give away" price (IMO)!
  23. Looks old silver to me? Also handcrafted. May not have stamps.
  24. How low can you reach in separation under the 4 level? I mean without falsing at all or at least an acceptable level. I'd try to slowly go down with separation if such an high sensitivity level doesn't satisfy You.
  25. I still have it but admit to hardly ever using it. The skid plate is as pictured, edges extend slightly outside the diameter of the coil to help protect the sides a little. Kind of a non-issue for me, bottom wear is what I’m avoiding.
