Your explanation is short of description to answer fully. Can you tell us what mode your hunting in and your settings? If I had to guess, I would say you are hunting with horseshoe mode on if you are hearing iron?

How many of those goodies do you think were beyond the reach of a Nox or MDT? Very nice digs!!! What is the weight and karat stamp on the bracelet? Looks heavy!

Make sure you take the Nox after to clean up!!!! 😂 Good luck tomorrow!!!

Suggestions For Future MDT Changes
midalake replied to dewcon4414's topic in Tarsacci Metal Detectors
1. Center-mount coils. No more rear mount coils 2.Detector rod: Coil wire and rod needs 6 more inches, and make it thinner. OR, Make it so the machine is adaptable to an after market rod. 3 Better ID at depth and Tones. -
So I was looking for some comparison on what others are seeing and how we tested the Nox and D2. Kind of the same here, the D2 and Nox could both here things, but no ID on really deep stuff. We had trouble with clean tones on the D2. Maybe updates will clear this or some advanced settings? Will see how this shakes out more.

I can't tell from your pics, are there holes in the Anderson upper for those spring clips that hold a lower rod? Thanks -

Sounds like you might be itching for a new spot,,,,,🤣 -
Did either machine TID at that 14" depth, or was this an " it could be heard" at that depth?

Deus 2 Vs Tarsacci On The Black Sand Beach
midalake replied to Kaolin washer's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I have moderate black sand and have had both the MDT and D2 on this beach. But not at the same time together. First my Black sand: Moderate enough to where it would affect both my Sovereign GT in pinpoint mode and Equinox to where I would have to back them down in sensitivity. In my opinion, I think the MDT and D2 were similar in performance. Both machines had functions that allowed them to mitigate the effect of black sand and allow good performance of the detector. I think it would be hard to get a clear winner. I also think performance of each detector would be more than acceptable and I don't think one machine would out TID the other in black sand. HH -
Nice digs for sure!!! I am surprised there are not more coins mixed in your batch? That is is whole lot of sizeable nonferrous targets you found!

OK, was thinking the iron didn't look crusty enough to come out of salt water.- 206 replies

I don't want the Deus 2 [right now] for several reasons: 1. The rod is unhuntable in my location and a good replacement has not been made yet. 2. The rear mount coil is a POS in wave wash. 3. Cost 4. My testing, now from earlier software versions was clear that the D2 could only maybe match par with the Equinox in Horseshoe mode on the wet beach. Once the D2 lost TID on a target it was very difficult to get a 360 clean tone on nonferrous for idenification and recovery. 5. Learning curves are no bother to me, but I would like to see a finished product at some point. That only leaves one location left on my beach where I would want to use the D2, active Wave Wash. I am on the sidelines waiting for the Legend to get into the hands of an experienced salt hunter to get a review of the Legend VS Equinox in active salt wave wash. If it turns out the Legend can do better than the Equinox in wave wash that will be my choice. I am not so sure the Deus 2 can outperform MDT in moving salt water, I do know the D2 can beat the Equinox. My time spent testing the MDT showed it was the best detector I had tested to date in moving salt. Too bad the coil wire was not longer, and the offset coil and price were other factors I passed on the MDT. HH to you Dew......

XP Deus II Observation In Mineralized Ground

This would be a great question for Tom Dankowski. Bet he would have an answer. -
This is why someone should buy my Equinox 800 on the classified forum. It is a verified gold killer....... and a real Minelab machine!

First Rings And Turf Gold For The Deus 2

Excellent work! It would be nice to see some deep targets found with your Equinox, then compared to the Deus 2. Seems like you are getting proficient with both. -

No idea on the buried response? I applaud you for doing wild testing with two detectors. It is the only way to decide which machine is better! -

UGH, that scoop caught my eye. With my rough surf and soft sand, I am always looking for more bucket than bill. Nice collection!!!!
