  1. And they cost a lot as well. Nothing beats a good hard copy. I finally threw away hundreds of old typos to places I used to hunt...mostly remote areas in Idaho, Colorado, etc..that I was certain that I would never visit again...hope I was right. strick
  2. Throw the ring in the tumbler...thanks for the report on the Deus... strick
  3. I have made some extra broom stick handles while eagerly awaiting the GM 1000... anyone need one let me know! strick
  4. I think that Kellyco is in over their head. Tragic circumstances left them one repair person short. When I had to send my CTX in for repairs it took about 8 weeks to get it back... I left several messages none of which were returned. I called my dealer and complained and the next day I got a call back from Kellyco.....coincidence? I don't think so. Another thing that I have read on other forums is that If you pay extra Kellyco will put you in the front of the line. I hope that sort of thing is not true. If it is then for people like me who's machine was still under warranty their needs to be a separete line. I don't mind a business doing business how they please but people who are waiting for their broken detector (still in warranty) should not be pushed back just because "Joe Zincpenny " wants to go to the beach...so do we! Anyway I hope that these manufacturers get their blank together so we can get our detectors back in working condition in a reasonable amount of time. strick
  5. I have a couple pairs of Sun Ray pro golds and they are great head phones... strick
  6. I wish could read as fast a Steve types...I am now convinced there are two Steve Herschbach's...one that types the computer and one that hunts for gold! strick
  7. Me thinks you need a bigger scale! Nice bits! strick
  8. Miles of endless terrain, with a chance for a nugget at each step.....and with the Zed there is always the chance for that big one...hunting with friends makes it even more special. Thanks for sharing.. My dog "Buddy" likes lizards too! strick
  9. Great link...The maps that I view on USGS are on this site. Makes it easier to navigate now....thanks! strick
  10. Looks like its a go then... Thanks for the report. strick
  11. You actually have the right detector....you just need another detector... strick
  12. Hope it's ok to post this pic I pulled off the internet...it shows the differnece between frequency and image quality/depth using a ultrasound probe at 6,9,10,12 MHz. Notice that as the frequency increases shallower structures become more clearly visible but deeper structures start to blur or completely disappear. In Ultrasound the frequency of the probe is where it all starts...technology has become extremely advanced beyond that and I have always wondered if engineers in the two different fields (metal detectors/Ultrasound) use simular tecnology to achieve very different goals. strick
  13. And I don't think you will have to put a plastic bag over the control box of GM 1000 if it's raining. strick
  14. Found out it's a .45-70 sharps. T net is pretty good about getting stuff identified rather quickly. Thanks for looking! strick
  15. Hit the dirt with Clark (aka 1515Art) for a late morning hunt. Dirt is like concrete the first 3 inches. Was scared I was going to break my Apex a few times. We had a good hunt in a pounded out spot but there were still lots of targets. Best of the day was this 1916 California License plate bear tag. They are made of lead and used to be riveted to the porcelin license plate back in the day. Kinda cool relic. Clark it was fun to get out and pound dirt with you! Also are a few more photos of some other goodies dug over the past month or so. If anyone knows what caliber the big bullet is please feel free to advise. Happy Hunting out there! strick
  16. I was going to say the same thing but you beat me to it. Trying to screw on the coil nut on my AT Gold has me cussing every time the idiots that engineered it. For the $ the AT series is one of the the best bang for the buck out there. The external speaker went out on my AT Gold soon after purchase. I never sent it back for repair because the headphones still worked but mostly because Lisa liked to use the machine without the headphones on the beach. The machine was so obnoxiously loud ( non adjustable AT Gold speaker) it had people people looking her way all the time. strick
  17. Finding Waldo is easier Lunk...just saying strick
  18. Not something I'm interested in at the moment. Already have the 4 other coils. Three of which I use regurarly. The large 17" coil does not really give me much if any in the way of depth over the 11"and I hardly ever use it due to the extra weight. This new coil is heavier then the 17". It will have to perform miracles before I can be suckered into buying it. strick
  19. This last storm was like bamboo under the finger nails I sure hope the weather gets better up there in Gods country...or we may see more of this type of behavior...confiscating a man's dog? that just aint right.... strick
  20. Always looking forward to your reports. I've been tempted to get a G2 for a while now but learning self control with detectors has kicked in finally. I have always been better at buying stuff then selling stuff....Trading is an option that I have utilized at times. Thanks to Ridge Runner's April fools joke a new Gold Monster 1000 will arrive a month or so after my birthday...Minelab has not disappointed me yet so I assume I will end up with a good VLF to hunt the trashy areas when the 2300 and 7000 start to annoy me. strick
  21. Glad you got into the pretty yellow Rick. We woosed out over here due to the storm...see you up there some day. strick
  22. I was digging lots of #9 birdshot with the GB II the other day...so hard to see with aging eyes... strick
