  1. Thanks, I have been finding in some areas that the 19khz just does better when there is a lot of iron vs the lower frequencies. Wasn't sure where that tipping point is going up in frequency where it becomes counter productive. I got the MK specifically because it had the 5khz and would do better on small silver compared to my Tejon and finding that the MK does really well on small silver with very little difference on depth between all 3 frequencies but #'s are better in 19khz with sp mode on.
  2. Hmm pull start 2 cycle sounds good. I could look like I'm doing some landscaping and hit some the golf courses and other areas where detectors are banned!!! Fantastic idea!
  3. Thanks. All those targets were in mixed signals with iron so I would get a med or med high number in one direction and a grunt in another. The cans were actually on edge and gave good signals. I usually can tell but the way the large cent rang in I dug them anyways. Area has been really picked through so it's a daunting task picking through the tough spots.
  4. Was over a lower section that is all fields and first find was the large cent, looks like a drape and of course rough shape being old copper. Musket ball was a pretty cool find and the skeleton key which are my favorites. I included my trash so you guys don't thing I'm some sort of elitist and only find good stuff hehe.
  5. If the Gold Kruzer is like the other Kruzer's then Deep mode the unit needs to be almost touching the ground. Haven't taken my MK in the water yet as the puddles here are closed due to the virus. Just from what I have used on the MK, skimming the ground with the high gain modes (2 tone, 4 tone and deep) helps quiet it down. Also dropping gain down to the 85 or less helps as well as increase disc. I wish the coils on the regular Kruzers worked on the Gold. Do you ever use your GK for coin shooting and micro jewelry in parks etc? How does it hit small silver? We have a lot of old iron here and I end up using 19khz mostly here. Tempted to pick one up.
  6. Nice one. Nox barely squeezed that one out. Soil there must be tough.
  7. You should be able to get the atv back without any fees. The impound company has to notify you that it was impounded. If you got a lawyer friend give them a hollar and maybe they can draft up a nice letter. Hope you engrave and mark your equipment in the future and keep photographic records of the stuff in case this happens again. Glad they got the bugger.
  8. Think you got everyone confused because it is Garrett unveiling the new detector the 15th and this is the Nokta/Makro forum.
  9. More gold in 2 days than most of us see in a decade of detecting. Well done!
  10. The copyright lettering reminds me of The Detectorists when they where looking at areas of a map where it had the watermark Google :) One the things I look for is where fields gow back into forests. What was once active farmland and is now wooded lands or in some cases a school had been plopped in or a park. If your in the woods itself you can look for the smaller trees and will notice larger ones as the older wooded areas.
  11. Looks like the same guy, country clones?
  12. Iron in the clasp can change the range it comes in. That is good as some detectors when discrim iron out you could completely lose the target as it filters out too much. One the things I like about the analog machines is they don't have that sort of filtering. I small piece of iron can make a small silver louder depending on machine bias. For the old coin in a new park, there is a good chance the dirt for the park came from somewhere else or had been pushed around from the old land as in the case of the 3 large cent's I found in a building that is fairly new that was put in what was once a farm. I even found an 1877 seated dime in a baseball diamond 2" in the sand just between 2nd and 3rd base! I assume the sand was trucked in from somewhere else as the diamond was put in around the 70's Very good possibility there are more older coins in the area. Maybe inside the locked fences? Wonder if you can get permission to check them? Pretty cool when you find something that old in new areas.
  13. Hope many of those loyal users find a home here. This is one of the best forums with some great people that help people of all skill levels, share ideas, tips and their finds.
  14. Between the homeless camps and now this, be careful where your digging. May want to keep your ears open for what is going on around you.
  15. If it's an iphone you can bring it to an apple store. They could have wrapped in foil thinking it would keep them from being tracked. Might be stolen and doing so may prevent "Find my phone" app from working.
  16. Gave the stand a run and it works really well, no more flopping and it isn't too wide where it interferes with my swing.
  17. Solved the waiver. I popped the batteries out, opened up the control box and used some pot cleaner spray on the threshold and ground balance. Buttoned it all up and I get a nice smooth threshold now.
  18. Still a niche market for a good analog. Didn't know it was that heavy which explains the hip mount option. Monotone machines are still effective. I actually find it easier to follow as I can concentrate on tone size and roll. More tones my brain starts to shut down LOL
  19. Good run! Where there are homeless camps there are homeless bathrooms, double danger!
  20. Got tired of my machine flopping over so I made this. Fit's Kruzer and Amphibio series with or without optional external battery pack. Will give it a good beat down and if all works well will bang out a few if anyone is interested.
  21. I still have my AT Pro. The audio on that is smoother than the AT Max. Doesn't quite have the subtleties of a Tesoro but pretty close. AT's get a bad rap as people don't set their iron disc properly and run it flat out with iron audio on. There is an iron audio on/off switch for a reason and when you run in pro mode you simply use that as an iron check so the machine is basically a 2 tone machine. Recovery speed is pretty good but you can get tripped up with iron masking. In the years I have used the AT Pro it really hasn't been a major issue. AT Pro doesn't have super depth but does fairly well. I have the Nel Big and all the hours I spent swinging that and beating up my shoulder I only found 2 silver dimes in the 14" mark which is good but not really worth the effort. I think the 13" ultimate coil would be a better choice. I also did pick up the 9"x12" concentric coil which is just a hair deeper than the stock 8 1/2" x 11" coil. You may gain an inch or so. Bottle caps fall towards nickel range. The larger search area can be tough in some areas with a lot of trash as you get signal mixing. Be interesting what the new machine has for specs.
  22. That's too bad, machine looked really good and the hip mount is still a great feature. I think 4.6khz is the sweet spot for silver but the machine may struggle in high iron areas. I'm finding that my MK works better at 19khz in older areas that have lots of iron. 5khz still works but targets get a little vague when in the mix. Maybe you can take one for a test drive and torture us poor deprived Americans this fantastic old tech 🙂
