  1. If that was me using the Nox in a situation like that then i would not give up till i had it out of the ground or at least i could see what it was,the UK his as we are all aware of goes way back and what the target is/could be anything. As you are digging deeper and the signal is getting stronger that surely must indicate to you that something is getting nearer, forget the TID its the audio you need to rely on and never ever walk away from a decent audio target. As this location is on the site of a possible Motte and Bailey site a couple of things may need to be looked into sis/was the site scheduled ?? if not of course you can carry on digging but if it is then one need to take that into account that you may need to stop digging, that is of course upto you.Regarding what the target is/could be while its still in the ground it could be anything hence the reason for carrying on digging to find out what you have located. Stream/Rivers and river crossings have always been places that could provide some decent finds, this could be because of say votive offering, items that have been stolen but items like weapons disposed of in water and artefacts from war itself. Never give up on such a target, well i certainly would not give up especially when the signal increases the deeper/nearer the target you are getting.
  2. Only ever watched 2 programmes some years ago, could tell it was going to a 'BS' series, never watched any since neither videos,my opinion was never hidden in the 1st place but as long as it grabs folks attention and it pulls in the viewers and that is how they make serious money from advertising like these new super duper detectors and other allied equipment. As long a folks watch it they will keep stringing folks along and they will probably make more money than if they had found some sort of treasure.
  3. In all the years that i have been detecting i have never ever used anything to clean or preserve any of my finds this includes many many roman, saxon and celtic gold and silver coins and many artefacts going back 1000s of years. All i ever do is use a very very soft old toothbrush under running water from the tap and dry them off. Over the years i have seen many coins including some rare ones rendered zero value because folks have used chemicals, abrasives, tumbled them and other ways as well, coin collectors who are looking for rare valuable coins basically prefer them as you found them other wise they wont buy them if cleaned the wrong way. The only things that i may possibly treat would be BA 'Bronze Age' items like axe heads or spears as often they can suffer from a bronze disease that can start eating away at the bronze, but although i would look at getting these items treated i would not do it myself though. Of course what i do with my finds other folks may not do,but i prefer to be on the safe side and not damage some historical items because of lack of proper cleaning knowledge,my motto is 'if in doubt dont'.
  4. Yes,thats exactly what i use,not cheap but i was lucky someone bought one across the pond to the UK and never used it so it was brand new without the additional shipping cost and i mean it was cheap.
  5. Although i have never done any nugget hunting,a couple of setups that i use and it depends on the targets etc,the 1st one is a 4'' coil on a cut down Tesoro shaft which has been mentioned a few times on this forum. But i also own and occasionally use and possibly the best method for nugget hunting pinpointing wise is the 'UNIProbe pinpointer Detector PRO' which is basically a 7/8'' pinponter Pulse probe that should b ideal for small gold recovery although i will admit i have never used one for recovery of nuggets.
  6. @jasong, Your post sums it up very well, its easy to make fake these type of videos rather than the reality of what is actually involved in the finding gold in the real world.I have have never done any form of gold nugget hunting but i do love reading all the real life adventures that the pro's get upto when hunting for gold around the world.
  7. Almost all detectors i would have thought could be 'used' and called a Bling Bleepa' cannot see what would be special about it for recovering jewellery, any jewellery that is made of what ever metal ie gold, silver or what ever can be found by a 'metal detector'. Some situations a more specific operating detector like multi freq or Pulse for sea water would be the best machine for the job, coil size i would have said coil size could play a big part also in locating 'bling' as well. A few machines that i would personally use and not because they are special machines and would increase the chance of finding jewellery but my T2 with 5'' coil,Deus with Elliptical coil and my Nox with 6'' coil. Some detectors excel better than others, but i cannot see how you could/would produce just a 'bling machine'
  8. With the current price of Gold at the moment i sold my 'Golden Retriever' for a handsome profit 🤣 🤣 🤣
  9. I all ready have a German Shorthaired Pointer but was 'bamboozled' i must admit while i was intoxicated into buying a 'Golden Retriever' thinking that my fortune was just about to happen the dog just about retrieves sticks and i fell for it 'hook line and sinkers'. Teach me to be so gullible especially while intoxicated 😀
  10. Although i dont use my Nox for Larking or even beach use,i still personally think the 6'' coil is my favourite coil on that machine. As long as you are having fun and finding some decent finds that is all that matters.
  11. A very nice find Regis, with a golf trolley and all that sand around it looks like you are stuck in Bunker on a gold course rather than the beach 🤣 🤣 🤣 The MDT must be a good detector if you are thinking of getting rid of the Nox.
  12. Hollowing this project with great interest, although i do have the standard TDI and a backup battery for my TDI Pro,but as a result of the company going out of business the possibility of batteries become scares could mean that this project will be worth while looking into very seriously. Thanks for taking the time to post this indepth project, always admire the amount of time that you put into the TDI testing especially the coils which has to be the best that i have seen and covers so many coils. Thanks again
  13. Welcome onboard, look forward to reading your posts, possibly my favourite detecting forum.
  14. Steve,i think i am right in saying they found the hoard initially with normal detectors but finally nailed it with a twin box detector,i could be wrong on that but pretty certain they mentioned it in a video that it was finally located with a twin box. But some tremendous homework on both those folks,if someone in that case a farmer found some scattered coins in a tight radius 30 years ago its a good indication that something else could be in the area and of course they had that hunch and was rewarded for it.
  15. Steve, welcome onboard, your a lucky guy living on Jersey one of my favourite places and visited it many times, have you every met 'Reg Mead and Richard Miles' who found the famous the world famous 'Grouville Hoard' Grouville Hoard The Grouville Hoard is a hoard of an estimated 70,000 late Iron Age and Roman coins reported in June 2012 Are you able to detect for WW2 artifacts on Jersey as its 'frowned' upon in France especially on beaches etc,but great thing you do about re-uniting lost jewellery. Look forward to reading your posts.
  16. Regis, sounds like you are really starting to enjoy this new machine of yours, well done and some interesting insight on the performance of the detector. Do you reckon it could over take some of your others like the Pulsescan ??
  17. Outstanding videos, really enjoyed watching them, that 5oz lump of yellow looks amazing.
  18. Regis, well done on the new machine mate, will look forward to seeing some feedback on how it performs as you do both beach and mudlarking, the coil would be potentially to large for larking i would have thought ?? keep us updated on how you get on with it. I think you are still away from Londinium at the moment till the weekend ??
  19. Interesting question, must admit i am lucky that in all the decades that i have been detecting i have only found nails and rubbish,in my mind its always best to keep everything low profile that way you dont have any issues 😉
  20. Regis, some tremendous finds me old mate, hope you find some more finds.......very well done.
  21. Thats a very nice looking rig, that would work exceptionally well here in the UK when we are able to go back detecting again and weekend rallies. We have similar type of trailer over here but they are often called 'Teardrops' they are the same basic size but have a side profile of a teardrop, mainly used just for sleeping in more than anything else, would prefer to be off the ground and in one of these than say a bit of flimsy canvas like a tent lol
  22. @phrunt,Simon,it just aint going to happen, its back in its box in the mancave, the time and effort involved when all my other coils work just fine i just cannot be bothered if i am honest. Of course i am please that you are happy using yours, but for me its the end of the story.
  23. The original 15'' was possibly the worst coil that i have ever used, only used it for maybe a few hours and still in pristine condition, once again could not see any advantage depth wise but ground coverage was of course its biggest advantage in theory. But the killer and massive design flaw for this coil was its humongous weight and for no real advantage, cannot see the logic really about spending time and money redesigning this coil,i found that my NEL Storm and SEF 15x12 coil do exactly what i wanted originally both depth and ground coverage but in a much lighter package. I highly doubt that i will get the 'newer version boat anchor' for my T2,of course if folks start offloading them again at a cheap price because they are not much better then i may be interested in buying a almost new one for peanuts. We wait and see and hope this coil does not turn out as bad as the original one, best time to launch this coil would be just after christmas buying a one off price heavy coil is cheaper than a years Gym membership if you are looking for keeping fit 🤣
  24. Nothing wrong with it i guess,it worked fine, the only thing it would not do was 'auto GB' or Ground Grab which is the only coil that i have had problems with doing it,every other coil from different companies have always done the auto GB,of course i could/can manual GB the coil or just leave it at the factory default of 90.........but lost interest in it and its been in the cupboard for the last couple of years. Neither NEL,SEF coils or even my rare Coiltek 6'' coil these have always been able to auto GB but that Mars which i think is one of your favourites i could never get do do it.If i loose interest in something then it rarely gets used again and that is the only coil that this has happened with, its not faulty but i just dont get on with it lol.
