Bedrock Detecting For Placer Gold Nuggets
rvpopeye replied to Smithsgold's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
The moral of the story boys and girls is , If you can't find the gold make sure somebody brought cookies ! That looked pretty GOOD ! -
We all had to make a decision on what to buy. If you're not in a hurry , no need to make the decision till you are and then there's always a "new release right around the corner " to consider too. ๐ Stick around and your new machine could become easy to pick tomorrow !?!๐ค

Detecting In Really Cold Weather
rvpopeye replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Was that a smile on your face or just a frozen grimace ? If that was here the ground would have been rock solid ! (unless it's over a septic tank ) But pinpointing would probably work , and a can of spray paint might leave a mark you could dig next spring ! LOL -
I found some vid of my beach while looking for info on a rare eagle spotted nearby. Not a MD vid and just a quick segment.but there it is....

Reading The Manual And Learning My Detector
rvpopeye replied to ks1652's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I only had the quick start guide for the first few months.... No internet so no manual till I found someone to download it for me. Still don't have a printed copy...but I did make a cliff notes manual on file cards to keep in my headphone case. Then I found DP forum. (I think Chase has the manual memorized ??)๐ง Wish I lived closer to Rye Patch so I could hang out with Gerry and Lunk , doubt the manual would come close to that ! If you can get into one of their classes , you'll be SET UP ! -
Beach Season Has Begun
rvpopeye replied to schoolofhardNox's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I figured it out. That ring was an early prototype for the zincolns ! I just finished prospecting my yard , had to clear 3-4" of overburden to get to bedrock , it's really weird here , kinda looks like??? it's paved. No gold found there but I think I found out where all the black sand comes from and the car can go about half way out to the road ,waiting for the plows to finish building their additions at the end of the driveway arrrrrgh. Had to get a new digger ,made in Canada, it's called a sno-scoop.- 206 replies

I lived in DV for 7 months the winter of 06-07 with my then GF while she workamped at the grille/bar at the golf course Furnace Creek. The rangers give info talks at the visitor center there. I think I remember seeing one about DV rocks and minerals,,,,No gold even if 'Ol Scotty said so......๐คจ I saw some of those at the gift shop at Stovepipe , forget what the label said though. We didn't take any rocks home with us but sure did take sand ! It was everywhere no matter how much we cleaned it out. The tops of my leaf springs , engine compartment , inside the roof vents .....LOL
