Steve's 2019 UK Adventure
MSC replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Congratulations Steve. I have been on the fence about purchasing an 800, this story may have made my decision easier. -
One of my good metal detecting friends now needs hearing aids but doesn't know if they will interfere with the electronics of the GPX 5000 or if it will interfere with with his hearing aids, any one have expedience with this? We will not be able to test this out until late February, any help will be appreciated.

Steve, you may not remember, some 4-5 (or more?) years ago during a very rainy few days at Saw Tooth when the road got washed out, you had your trailer, me and a friend met you on the road. I had mt 5000, you let me swing the 7000, I commented how heavy it was and would never buy one, but I did and do not regret it. I still use the 5000 in narrow washes, steep hilly areas, the 7000 on flatter ground. I have adapted a harness that I like when using the 7000, still heavy, but I do like the gold it finds. Hope to meet again someday now that I know who you are. Thanks for this great site.

It's a bit cold right now but Gold Basin is the best, perhaps the "easiest" place to find meteorites. Still not real easy but for a beginner, may be the best place to start. Good luck with both pursuits.

Many of the ancient artifacts uncovered are made of gold and are spectacular to see, that is another reason gold is still valued by folks today. Just incredible the craftsmanship on some of the many of the finds around the world, it is still today a beautiful metal right out of the ground.

Behind The Scenes At XP Metal Detector
MSC replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in XP Metal Detectors
WOW, White's looks to have it together, Garrett not as much, but XP, if that is really the factory is light years ahead. Thanks for posting the vid's Steve. I all ways root for Whites to come up with another detector I would want for detecting gold. -

Thanks nvchris, I will detect at Something, AZ. next trip. Got to try new places at times.

I have had the same problem at times, the 25 was even worse. It's not consistent with the 35, I had no problem my last time out. I turn it off and on when it happens and that seams to take care of it.

Tried a new area for metal detecting last week, Nothing AZ, it lived up to its name. Spent 5 days and came up with Nothing. Lots of quarts, black sand looks good but no gold.

My Dreams Finally Come True In 2020
MSC replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I have already spent a bunch on a 5000 and 7000, some years apart, I would only buy another PI if it was much like Steve described and more affordable than what I have spent so far.- 40 replies

All About Long Range Locators

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, verifies what I have always thought, except when I was a beginner, it could very well save someone on this forum from falling into this trap. -
What's Best, Cruising Or Crawling? My Last Day Gold.
MSC replied to Gerry in Idaho's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Thanks all, I really appreciate that you all are willing to share, I have learned a great deal from this conversation. I will slow down to a crawl when I go out hunting nuggets next time (in a week in AZ for two weeks.) Thanks for this site. -
Steve, cool, thanks for your contributions, both prospecting and human nature, can not express how valuable this is. I remember running into you some years ago at Sawtooth when it rained for days and the road washed out, didn't know who you were at the time but I would like to see you again some day. Thank you for this site.

First Hunt In The South, Meteorites? + 2 More
MSC replied to 1515Art's topic in Metal Detecting For Meteorites
Fred's right, the darker rock is not a meteorite for sure, quartz and magnetite. The others, not sure but not like any I have seen or found myself. The University of Arizona can and will verify Meteorites if you send it to them, not sure if there is a cost and it will take a while. -
Steve's Nugget Detector Guide Update Sept 2019
MSC replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Steve, to many of us looked at the pictures first and didn't see the 800 there didn't read your review. -
i like it,easy to use, I like the ability to replace the batteries instead of recharging. Replacement batteries will never wear out.

Good for you cobill, I like the 5000 also, have the 7000 too, I use both, great detectors.
