First Gold With My Deus 2!

I didn’t have a lot of time this morning and it’s going to rain tomorrow so I stayed close to home and hit my only old house permission.  This is the same place where I detected under the floor of the old house.  There’s around 3 acres at this site and I’m making my way to the areas farther from the house.  Today I used the D2 in program 3 except I switched to pitch and lowered the reactivity to 2.5.     I set disc at 8.5 and sensitivity to 95 and audio response to 5.  Oh, I also used the x/y screen for the first time.  My goal was to dig all good sounding targets. About an hour in I got a really nice sounding, solid 66 with a nice straight line on the graph.  About four inches down I see yellow and out pops a small 14k wedding band.  It fits my pinkie perfectly lol!   After that I tried and tried to find a coin, but didn’t find a single one.

I would expect coins and not a gold ring if I were hunting that spot. You never know what's there. Nice going!

Thanks Skate!   I’m confident navigating the menu and I know how most of the basic settings like reactivity, sensitivity, and audio response work and know when and how to use them.  I’m still using stock settings for silencer and ground stabilizer. I’ve got to put in a lot more hours to get more comfortable with tone nuances especially since there’s so many tone variation options. However It’s coming along and I’m not completely in the dark trying to decipher what it’s telling me.  Today was the first day I ever used pitch on it.  I noticed that small pieces of tin roofing give a nice sounding signal, but the bigger pieces are easily dismissed using the audio response setting.  Overall I think I’m going to really like this detector.  I have approximately 12-13 hours on it now.

I already cleaned out most of the coins with my nox.  I did get an indian head penny and a 1912 V nickel last weekend with the D2.  Thanks!
