XP Deus 2 Vs Minelab Manticore

Recommended Posts

Nice pendulum swing on that D2.  Yeah, someone with a pre pro Manticore and permission to post video at this point is going to be unbiased, rigggght.  Look without getting into the issues related to what an airgap distance measurement really means and their laughably sloppy execution, with respect to comparing depth, just the fact that they went 13 - 0 on depth for two comparible VLF machines in neutral soil shows their inherent bias/intent and really proves nothing.  It's not about depth anyway, it's about what Mollycot brings to the table with regards to accurate non-ferrous ID and positive ferrous determination.  In no hurry on this one, willing to wait until well after the hoopla dies down and the "gotta have it now" sucker lines dissipate.  At that point, Mumblymouth will most certainly supplant my Nox, but NOT my D2.

What a horrible test. With ZERO usable information! These two had both those detectors on AND too close. I really need to get my resume in to be a company tester.

I'm not a big fan of head to head tests, They generally are biased by so called similar settings and ground conditions and overall poor detecting skills.  ANYONE who buy's a machine based on one of these video's and marketing campaign's deserve to have their wallet drained. I've run head to head with many kinds of machines and have Had my ass handed to me and in the reverse. I've run my lowly Compadre against an 800 and cleaned house, so to speak. I get tired of the, this is the best and that sucks BS. This is one of the reasons that I removed myself from this forum for a while. I needed a break from all the stupid. Detecting is 99% being in the right spot. After using many machines for many years I have concluded that EACH have certain things that make them better. That's why all of us run multiple machines. For me I have landed on Tesoros and the 800. ( Not saying they are the best, But they work for me in MY conditions). I hope that both minelab and XP do very well, But in the same breathe I'm not going to tell a new guy or gal that you should spend $1600 or $2000 on a machine because it's the best, cause it's new. I think a bunch of us know or have heard of the older detectors who never laid a hand on a so called modern machine, But yet we revere their skills and amount of finds. Please for the good of this hobby STOP saying one is better than the other, because it's just NOT true. WE are here to help each other and promote the future of metal detecting, not push them away. Sometimes it's the so called shit machine that you can afford AND gets you started AND makes you want to share with other's on a forum like DP. Focus people remember when you first started?????  Show your finds, Congratulate each other and SHARE useful information. WE will all be better for it in the end.

Video fatigue has already set in for me. I have not seen much in any video so far that I thought was super useful. Just enough to peak interest, and ready to get one in my hands. I do think seeing multiple targets and the way they smear and show round targets based on shape is pretty neat. I've pre-ordered for several reasons.

#1 Fresh warranty and improved build quality.

#2 Stoked about 100 numerical I.D. and the 2D screen.

#3 Hoping this improved EMI handling is actually true, and better than the noise cancel on the Equinox.

I doubt he will sell tons of MTCs over here in France , despite all his marketing videos .. The MTC is simply too expensive at 2000€ for the local inland hunters , knowing the current economical situation with the inflation , the increasing heating costs etc ..

And knowing that there are many detectors under 1000€ that do the job very well , especially in fields where the targets are close to the surface and dont need ultra high depth performance ..

If... Manticore will be a class better than the other best detectors from other manufacturers and will exceed the detection performance of today's detectors, then the price of 1900-2000 euros can be fair considering the depth performance of the detector .....and improved separation...which according to several direct tests of Manticore..my colleague "Mike" from Top Digin,, suggest...that Manticore can be a "game changer"..

Current high-end detectors from good manufacturers under 1000 euros are really well-made detection machines..in which I have full confidence..especially when you own 2-3 such well-adjustable detectors...and various coils..

Of course, the best thing will be what Manticore can do on a heavily detected terrain.. and how many other good targets it can detect on such a terrain... and for me that will be the deciding factor..

Manticore will have to surprise with its performance in the field...

This. The eurozone economy is collapsing based on all reports. For me gas just hit over $6.50 again, up $1.25 in the past week. I love testing and using new tech and am almost always an early adopter but not this time just because of the economy. I can't imagine though what winter is going to be like in places like Germany and France. It's not going to be XP vs. Minelab but rather food vs. heat.
