Welcome aboard ! You hit gold when you found this forum ! The road you seek is out there but the map is gonna be hard to decipher. You've had some pretty good directions posted but only you can decide the right way to get there .....these guys are the real deal , listen carefully. Here's my .02 Making any kind of "income" from this will be a way of life , probably more than just a part time job. If you find you like detecting and being out in nature for all the reasons besides finding gold . Have no expectations . Maybe a streak of good luck will come your way....but maybe not. 1st question So do you (and the wife have a history of camping out in the boonies and did you both love it ? 2nd question Do you have retirement income so you can survive while waiting for the stars to align and you start "making that living " you're hoping for ? Last one... Are you both willing to work at this more than those 4 hours ? Yes to all of it ? May the force be with you.....

....and always check the hole after you pull out the junk !

I recognized it right away ! Think I might have hobbit blood..but dwarf isn't out of consideration .. I think there were 7 but only 1 to rule them all............heyyyyyy they filmed those down under , might be some "real" ones to be found ....so YEAH ,,,DON'T put it on !

I walk a bit of beach uptah camp , and so do the others there but the towel crowd always seem to plunk down the first bare spot they get to..so earlier it's near the parking and moves out from there as the day goes on. The ones walking,,,well they'll be right there with you ! "Did you find anything????" The southern beaches kinda the same but there are many more places to park plus hotels and other attractions on the beach spreads it out much more......but still clusters spreading out from each access point . ACCESS POINTS themselves at the big beaches could take up a day without getting near the wet stuff......

Similar weather here 350 ! Thought Henri would break it up but it swung west and hit New York. Today might just be a detecting day if I ever stop posting though..Skuh kuh kuh kuh

I look at it as "if I can dig a million pull tabs , one of 'em might be a gold ring". Haven't got to a million yet.....but I will ! I remember the early days of pull tabs ,,,there were a lot more people throwing them on the ground than there were people saying "anybody see a gold ring anywhere , I just lost mine !" So that's your odds #s . YMMV skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh kuh (and who was the genius that made pull tabs the same ID as gold ????)

I don't need to fix any broken coil tabs on the NOX .. but I'm picking up a package of that Gorilla Weld 2 part for the adhesives drawer !

It wouldn't be a bit surprising if you get a detector in your hands with all the parts you now have. As the disease takes hold of you , feel free to ask about anything you need explaining for ....we'll get you up and running. AND,,,, Maybe someone would trade you a working detector for some parts ????

I learned this while I lived in Tucson.... Black Widow babies are microscopic so sealing them out is dang near impossible !

A My World analogy... Pro sound microphones , as well as other higher level signal wires use a form of this ("Balanced Lines" ) to cancel out noise in the long , low level signal wiring runs... called "Common Mode Rejection". A stage is a high EMI area ! Each mic wire has one ground (attached at one end only to eliminate ground loops) and TWO hot wires , 180* out of phase from each other.....when they are summed up on the receiving end the identical induced (noise) signals cancel each other out and the audio signal remains but noise (EMI) free. JMHO,,,I suspect the detectors use similar theory to accomplish the rejection.....
