  1. Germanrazor, Welcome aboard and good hunting!
  2. Welcome to the forum Bucketlist, Please post some stories with pictures of your adventures so we all can enjoy. Good luck, good hunting, and have fun!
  3. For my sand scoop I have used aircraft tubing as it is lighter weight but also stronger. I haven't bent it yet and it still looks new. Just a thought as you found a great way to do the job, and make it easier to collapse.
  4. Great finds for that hunt keep up the good work. Good luck on your next trip.
  5. Good job on finding the compact and dime and wish you luck on your next outing.
  6. If you found it close to the beach it could be an eyelet from an old deep sea rod, most of those are brass and stainless. The way it is bent at the bottom it sure looks like the ones I used to have. Some of those heavy duty ones for the bottom eyelets can weigh a few ounces. I could be wrong, but that is another item to think about.
  7. Good luck with your new detector, and happy hunting.
  8. Norm, that was a very special gift from your heart that will last forever in the family. Or until the price of gold hits the $10,000 mark per ounce, just kidding about that. Good luck on finding more soon as I wish you good luck.
  9. Welcome hugepossum to the forum and don't worry to much about a little bit of frost on the ground as it will soon be gone. My grandfather and I used to pan for gold near the Sharon Bluffs State Park in the Chariton River. We didn't get much more than an ounce, but it was a fun weekend with the sluice, pans, and canoe. We also hit Hickory Creek just a short distance from there, we had found good pockets of gold at the bends at both places. Just wish we took a detector with us to help find better spots to dig up some good pay dirt. Looking forward to seeing some of your finds and helpful hints. Good luck and happy hunting!
  10. Looks like a good place to do some hunting with a detector, and some people like that guy knows why people burn his works of art. It don't look like no whale to me no matter what I am drinking.
  11. Good luck on teaching him how to use the detector, but after you missing so many targets I think he has already got a handle on things.
  12. Sounds like your on a very good spot and I would go down deeper to see if the gold shows back up again. Good luck and good hunting.
  13. Welcome aboard the forum and I am sure that there are many people are here that will give you some great ideas like kac just did.
  14. Simon, I also am not a city person and plan on using air travel to get around so I can see more when we go. I will let you know when we go so maybe we can get together. I have told the wife that we need to stay out of the big cities as they are always a tourist trap, and to darn expensive.
  15. Yes I have heard that and we planned to do that where we go. This will be the first time we have taken a 2 month vacation and want to be able to see the sites. I can always tell my wife to go to some of the places on her own to catch some detecting, but not sure how well that would go over with her. I am more interested in detecting than seeing another city or zoo.
  16. They do have a 15x12 coil and I also think that they have a 20'" coil. You might want to check on the 20" coil if you think you might be going out to the desert with it. For gold I am going to get a 6" coil for the 800 I have. Good luck, Caleb
  17. My money would be on the 800 as it is ready to go under all conditions. It is light weight and easy to handle, headphones or wired ear buds is your choice. It has a great warranty and almost fool proof. I say this as I am only a newbie and I am able to learn things with it I never thought I could. Good luck on your choice.
  18. Wonderful find to end the year with, congrats! Good luck on your next hunt.
  19. We are looking at 3 locations in Australia to spend 2-3 weeks and then go to NZ for a couple of weeks. I want to see the Brisbane area, the Perth area, and maybe get into the outback areas to do some detecting. After that head back to the states and get back to work.
  20. Great finds this time of the year or just any time of the year. Good luck on your next hunt.
  21. Great find in a short amount of time, and remember it isn't the quality of the find that is important, it's the hunt. Good luck on your next hunt.
  22. That is a lot of people to watch out for. Thanks for the information as I am hoping to go there in the fall for a much needed rest. Don't know if I will bring my detector or not, but if I do I hope someone will show me an area to go to.
  23. Welcome to the forum, and there are plenty of knowledge on the 800 section. When I learn this unit I would be glad to help you as much as I can, but I am just learning the unit myself right now. The 800 is a great unit straight out of the box with the factory settings, and with my area I found that I need to dig everything and learn the tones and numbers on the display. Anyways glad to see you here and feel free to ask questions.
  24. Another fantastic hunt for you! If you keep finding those grills if you take them to your dentist he might just make a trade for them. I'm sure he could find someone to sell them to. Good luck in 2021 as you can now stop hunting this year.
