  1. Very nice hunt with some good results for you. What unit were you using to detect with? Good luck on your next hunt.
  2. Since reading this part, just what did she play with for 10 minutes?
  3. Thank you for that information I know that I had read something about it on this forum but could not find it.
  4. There is a wax that most people put on them after they do some small cleaning. I don't think the oil would be a good solution as it can go bad. I found some coins in an old jar and can tell you now that it smells so bad you don't want to be in the neighborhood since it has been opened. It has taken 6 different cleanings to lower the smell to a level that one can get near them. The cleaning rags do keep the animals away the yard as they hang on the back fence.
  5. I have seen gold like that from teeth and was going to let you know what it was, then I read that you had figured it out. Great hunt and many more in your future!
  6. Very interesting as I have been wanting to do some metal detecting in the waters. I am not certified for diving but have to learn and get my certification some time. Thanks for sharing as it was interesting.
  7. Haven't seen Oak Island in several years, and I believe that they will never find anything there. To many other clues put the treasure North of that place as I think there are only pits and traps on that island. Looks like a nice new toy that costs way to much money.
  8. Fantastic hunt and I loved the story you told. Hope I can some day find something close to it. I really need to go there some day and try my grandfathers 800 in the area just to see what it my find.
  9. Glad to see it recovered, but wish there were more information in the article. I guess we just have to wait to find out about it's journey for the past 5 years. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Fantastic hunt and a whole lot of nice items to boot! Keep up the good work.
  11. Great hunt and some nice finds, wish you luck on your next hunt.
  12. Very nice find, what detector did you use on the hunt, and what did it come up at.
  13. Looks like a great hunt and some day I will have to get down there to join in the fun. Good luck on your next hunt.
  14. Do you need me to send you a rag that has some on it. They are hanging on the back fence and when the wind blows from that direction we have to close the windows.
  15. What about something that tells a newbie to slow down their swing of the unit or to speed it up if they are to slow. I think the 800 has every feature covered except that. Since I am talking about myself and I am learning this unit, something like that would be very helpful to me so I don't miss anything.
  16. I am sure that Phrunt has written some articles on both of your detectors and his finds. Glad to see that you are on the best forum for all things detecting.
  17. Welcome to the forum and I am sure that there will be plenty of people to help you here. Steve also has some information about many subjects in his database section. Please show some of your finds when you start your collection of gold.
  18. Very nice looking gold no matter how small or large they are. Great hunt and best wishes on your next hunt.
  19. Great hunt! Nice finds and wish you luck on the gold coin to be found on your next hunt.
  20. Once again you have shown us newbies what to shoot for and not give up. Beautiful find and glad that you shared it with us. Good luck on your next hunt.
  21. I am new at this hobby and believe that with experience it will become easier in time. I have not yet used a probe, and have only used a sod cutter that my grandfather had with his detector. I find that if the item is close to the top of the soil it almost makes no damage to the ground. I have only scratched a few items with it and I am getting a lot better at pinpointing the spot in which to dig. Good luck and be patient with your new probe.
