  1. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you. I ran out of likes, and really have to say that you seem to always find some of the best finds I have seen. Great hunting and keep up the good work.
  2. First I would like to say Merry Christmas to you and your family. Second I like the way your wife decorated the tree, but why is it that only your stocking is hung up for everyone to see. Wishing you and yours great hunting in 2021 with wonderful finds.
  3. You have had a great year at some beautiful places with wonderful finds. Congratulations and may 2021 be a better year for you and all the rest of us. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.
  4. Very nice finds, and I have to ask if they were from the old road to Vandalia the old capital. There were several trading spots in farm fields along the trail/road at that time. We will have to get together come spring/summer. Have a good Christmas.
  5. Near the waters edge at a local beach, I found 5 bullets in the beach. There were no shell casings to be found.
  6. Well I am from Montgomery County, so if you ever want to get down this way we could do some old areas around my parts. Do you ever pan for gold, if so I have some good locations for that also.
  7. This time of year you could use the foil, but when summer comes along you better let the unit get rid of the heat.
  8. I forgot to mention, turn off your cell phone and leave it in your car. Stay away from power lines as they also now contain WIFI.
  9. When I started learning my 800 here in central ILLINOIS, I had to turn the sense down to about 15 due to the amount of trash in this area. Even in my grandmothers back yard it seems as though on every swing I will still get a signal from something. I will pause and go over the same spot several times to see what the ID number is before digging or passing on the object. When doing this I have found that I am digging a lot less trash, and I am learning the difference of the tones. The 800 is very sensitive to everything in my ground here and it will take many more hours to learn how to be better with it. All I use are the factory presets and just lower the sense, and I have been able to find more really good items if I am patient. When using the pinpoint mode, I will stop over the target and raise the detector higher, and then lower it to get the best location and ID number. Good luck and happy hunting.
  10. Great finds in a short time. Good luck on your next hunt, and Merry Christmas!
  11. Glad to have you here with us as you sound like you have some good knowledge to share with us. Good luck and good hunting!
  12. Welcome aboard and glad to have you here. Looks like you have some good equipment to use so please save some gold for me when I get a chance to get out there. Please post some photos of your finds when you get some so we can all enjoy them. Good luck and happy hunting.
  13. I always heard that he uses some type of magic to travel around the world. So if he does how would NZ know that he was there? You know he has to use some magic to get down the chimney's as fat as he is, so why would he have to quarantine himself.
  14. Well grandmother said she knows every place that you have mentioned and she still has relatives there. Good luck on your next hunt.
  15. That is impressive, and a merry Christmas to you. I just wish I could find something close like those nuggets. Good luck on your next hunt.
  16. Great hunting and lots of good finds with your detecting skills as a newbie. Wish you luck in the coming weeks and months ahead learning the 600 as it is a very good unit. Good luck and keep us updated as you are in a great area for some nice finds.
  17. As long as it is working for you to find things, it would be a inexpensive way to learn how you like the hobby. When I started I thought I would not be able to find anything at all with the detector I got from my grandfather. Since then I have been learning the detector and I am amazed at everything I have pulled out of the ground with it. I am still learning the unit and know that I will enjoy this hobby for a long time. Good luck and good hunting!
  18. Compass, I loved the way you showed off everything in the video and photos. Almost like a police lineup of wonderful finds. Glad you have had wonderful success this year as next year I hope to beat you out on finds, I just have to learn my 800 better. Good luck on your next hunt!
  19. Great to read the adventure of you and your family on these outings, and I wish you luck on your next hunts. You can always attach your photos here when you do your writing. Just drag them to the box where you write, or click on choose files. That will make it easier for people to see everything without having to go to an external link.
  20. What part of Illinois are you in, I am just below Springfield. Glad to see you here and welcome aboard!
  21. Since I have never heard of that brand, I would have to agree with Steve H. on this as he is the expert on more detectors than 3 leaf clovers on a hillside. Most detectors will do the same thing that you describe and I have read many times that it is normal for most of them. As long as it detects items in the ground well I really wouldn't worry to much about it. Since looking at the unit from the link you provided I also have to say it is some kind of knockoff, so be careful with the warranty on it. You get what you pay for and not any more than that. Good luck on your hunts and share some photos on your finds.
  22. Welcome to the forum and there are many here to help you with your questions. Please share some photos of your finds when you do come across them as we all enjoy the hunt and the finds.
  23. Even though I don't use any of those detectors I liked how well you sowed the test and results. This gives me more knowledge down the road should I ever get one of those units. Knowledge is the only way someone can learn the tricks of their unit to become better at this hobby. Thank you.
  24. The 1877 is very rare to find, my grandfather has 1 in his collection that he bought before I was born. The value has gone through the roof when they are in great condition.
