  1. Thanks for the video Simon and I will be checking grandfathers unit for the silicon. I don't want to break his detector and believe that the silicon is rejuvenating the rubber and plastic for a better hold. I ran out of likes and will come back to this when I have more again.
  2. Welcome aboard and happy hunting. Don't get discouraged on your first hunt like I did. I am just learning my detector and am now finding some good finds. This is a hobby that takes some people time and patience to learn their equipment. Sounds like a good spot that you are going to, and the timing is good weather for you. Hope you have fun and stay safe from the snakes and critters.
  3. Welcome Tim, The Equinox 800 is a really great unit and it works well in iron infested areas. There are a lot of people who use it for relic hunting without any problems, because they can use it in wet or dry areas. Good luck.
  4. Glad that you hit 100 with the Nox, and wish you more luck in the future with it. I agree about the pictures as we all love to see the results when we are not able to get out.
  5. That was some deep finds, good luck on your next hunt. I think a 4x4 is the best way to go.
  6. Never, they train us and allow us to think that we trained them. I now take care of my grandfathers dog and he is a handful.
  7. Good catch on the smaller ones as the bigger ones I think were very easy to find. Good luck on the next hunt.
  8. I would also go with meerkat's as they don't look anything like a roo.
  9. Great finds and hope you can find more on the the outing. Thanks for sharing the photos.
  10. Good finds and it seems you will be back there again, when you do I wish you more luck on the next hunt.
  11. Nice variety of bottles you guys have found. Now the real question is can you please refill the moonshine bottles and send me one. Just like my grandfather I like the stronger run of that sweet stuff. He got me hooked on it when I was younger and I just can't pass up the good stuff.
  12. Glad you made his day with the information and help. Did you buy it from him or help him sell it?
  13. My grandfather had a couple of those in his collection. The first one which had a much lower number than yours was dated back to around 1890, the other which was closer to yours was around 1915-1920. I remember seeing them when we had most of his collection sold several weeks ago, because one of the collectors that bought them was happy to get them. I hope this helps as you got a nice find.
  14. Sounds like a great hunt that your wife had, you dig and she hunts you down until she finds what she wants, and glad that you saved the ring. When I go hunting my wife never's goes with me so I don't have to worry much. I only have to worry about things when they get back to the house and I clean them up a little. She won't even clean the good things I found in a jar because she says they stink to much. Good hunting and lots of luck on your next hunt.
  15. Some times I feel the same way, I think it is about 600 kilos at least. Glad you are getting some good items again as I have missed seeing them.
  16. Nice hunt and glad for the saves that you made. Good luck on your next hunt.
  17. Nice hunting and great find. Good luck on your next hunt!
  18. Great hunting and good story about the hunt! One of these days I hope to be hunting those nice nuggets as well. Wish you more luck in the future.
  19. Glad to see you here and very sorry about your detector. Please tell us what you are wanting to use the detector for, gold, coins, in or out of water, and then we will be able to help you more than you ever expect. I have my grandfathers Equinox 800 and an old Tracker IV of his that I really enjoy using. I know that there are less expensive models that are just as good as the 800 in the Minelab line-up. Several others can give you a better comparison than I could ever do on this forum so please be patient.
  20. Welcome aboard and thanks for the information about yourself, as it may come to be useful to others. Some of the older detectors are some of the best for gold and such, so when you find something interesting please show some pictures for all of to see.
  21. Nice looking finds, what kind of monkey do you have. Good luck on your next hunt.
  22. Fantastic find and would really like to see it cleaned a little more. Don't let the politicians over there see it as it may cause a Russia investigation on it.
  23. Sorry, I believe the first story! Now if you think this is the real story, you are sadly mistaken because this thing tastes awful when cooked no matter how much seasoning you put on it.
