Should you ever have a chance to make something a big cat try chili. They are really good for almost any Chinese dish that you can think of. I have had some jerky made from it also and it was pretty good.

Allen, My grandfather had the same problem when he started with the 800, and as geof_junk stated grandfather was able to find someone that was able to help him. In your area there has to be many people with the same detector as you and they would be happy to help you in person. First thing to do is to go to the equinox forum on here and ask people about the problems that you are having, there may also be some answers to the questions that you may have already on there. I have found most of my answers there already as I have only been using grandfather's 800 for a short time. Be patient and read to learn the machine.

Glad to see someone pick them up, and hope they improve on their way of selling the units to dealers. Whites had been around for a very long time, and this could be the break that Garrett needed to have for their competition of the other brands. With the patents that Whites had and the newer technology from Garrett this could be huge.

I would be calling their service center to check if the part number has changed. Then I would be asking for the part.

Nice find on the nickel, but what I think is even better is the small item between the key chain and the hooked item. When you can find something that small, gold is just around the corner. Keep it up and all will fall into place, I am learning my grandfathers detector and have much to learn also. Good luck on your next hunt.

I have only been using the factory settings since using my grandfathers 800. Once I get more used to the unit I MAY try to play with the settings to see what else I can do with it. However I think that it is a really great machine as even I, a person who has never use a detector before, can swing the unit and find some really great items. Also you can find some that really stink, but with great results inside. Should you be able to buy one of the 800's I would say go for it, because you will be very happy with it.

That is a mail box slot, I have seen several that my grandfather had in his collection. Great find as they were very common in the early 1900's. Good luck on your next hunt.

Grand mother told me what happened to that sluice he had, he sold it to someone in Colorado after he built a new style out of nylon. If I can find out who has it I will ask him for some pictures of it. We had used it out there for several years and had great luck with it.
