The Seeker Posted January 10, 2023 Share Posted January 10, 2023 After finding my first gold ring my coil ears decided to call it quits. I guess it’s to be expected after having the 800 for 4 years (2000+ hrs hunting) and kicking it to knock off the sand that gets stuck to it. I wasn’t about to quit so I rigged up a bungee cord to it and hunted for 3+hrs to finish my day. I ended up with 10 rings, 5 junk, 2 silver. Of the remaining 3, one is 10k, other 14k and the last one Platinum with diamond chips. I also found what looks to be a melted gold tooth ( last item at the very bottom by the gold rings). Joe D. Posted January 10, 2023 Share Posted January 10, 2023 Been there x3 with the coil ears, but only one on a side each time!!😡 Send it to them for replacement! See what they say, since they know the defect very well!!! And BTW, that looks like a gold nugget to me! They do turn up occasionally at the beach! Only Manticore coils are not compatible with the Noxs! But there was another question, about weather the shaft heads themselves, were compatible! Gerry in Idaho Posted January 10, 2023 Share Posted January 10, 2023 You did well my friend. I as well, hundreds of hours on my Equinox and yet to break the ears. But I've seen it happen. Those rings are nice and the gold nugget a great bonus. I've seen a half dozen nuggets so far recovered from that storm and the beach hunters. Still hoping to get down there next week, if possible. Nice looking hunt to say the least with some great saves. Good luck on your next hunt. A friend broke some ears off his detectors coil and his friend who owns a auto body shop put them back on for him. They used some kind of epoxy that has never broken yet and that was 3 years ago.
