  1. Maybe that could be a sundial and that engraving could represent the sun...or maybe that could be a toy stirrup and that engraving could be a spur...we may never know strick
  2. Paul that was a win....win for all....good luck in Oz Strick
  3. I bought these nice rubber boots last year. Decided to try them at the beach...every time I took a step I could hear a faint signal...I thought to myself dam this beach has lots of ground noise...took me about 20 steps to figure it out strick
  4. Thanks Gerry I was just curious as to how you liked to run your detector. I do realize that environmental effects will determine how we all run our machines in the "moment" I was using Park 1 mostly in the beginning but have strayed to Park 2 and Field 2 more recently. I cant say that I have found more and better stuff. I do know that I will be hunting in park 2 if I'm targeting gold chains in parks but I have not hunted a park in the past 2-3 months as I have been in a sort of relic mood. It looks that I have been running very similar to the way you have set yours up...the main difference being that I have not given 50 tones a fair shake yet. Thanks for taking the time for the feed back. strick
  5. I'm not much of a sluicer. I'd rater be looking for nuggets with my detector. I like gold I can pick up with my fingers lol. My wife bought a small Keene sluice box several years ago and we set up a recirculating system at home where we could run some dirt at our leisure just for fun. I never really liked my home made set up. Although it worked it was slow..It was like a mini high banker made with stuff I got at the local hardware store. I was wanting something more efficient. In my search I found Gold Fox USA. There is also an Australian version that is the same company with a dealer who distributes for them in Oz. I wont go into a lot of boring detail...you can go to their web site and face book page or youtube for that...However I would like to say that so far I am very happy with this little set up. I can run unclassified material through this sluice extremely fast. The trommel is five inches in diameter. I've only used it three times so far and time will tell on how durable it is but it seems to be very well built. The company has many different sizes and options available. They are fast and get the product to you when they say they will. If you have a question Kelly the owner will get on the phone and answer it for you. The Lil Monster Deluxe comes with a 12v 2000 GPH pump. You supply your own power. I am using a RV deep cycle battery that I had laying around. I also bought a 700 GPH 12v pump and am using the two pumps together. The reason being is the material I am running is mostly clay and I wanted more water to help break it down. The only thing you have to watch is that the jets that supply the trommel will get plugged with organic material. They are easy to clean. In fact if you turn off the water supply to the hopper so it feeds the jets only...the water pressure is enough to flush them clean most of the time. Give them a look. https://www.goldfoxusa.com https://www.facebook.com/goldfoxusa/ strick
  6. Great story Skate...hope you got to take home at least one of those coins....this find makes me wonder about how the target sounded/ID with the Equinox? and what it would have sounded/ID like if ole Gramps had buried it in ABS/PVC pipe? one of these days when I have more time on my hands to goof off I might try that experiment. strick
  7. My guess is it's a long ways from home that little rectangular piece of dirt. I have not used the CTX much since the Nox came along. I have parks here in the Bay area that are hard to hunt with the Nox due to emi so for now the CTX stays but I've thought of unloading it at some point. strick
  8. Sounds like somethings rotten in Denmark...for such a big ring to read so low... strick
  9. Dang Gerry I've been away a couple days... Awesome hunt you had to pull so many relics. I'd have to say the two most eye catching for me were the Irish setter suspender clip and the silver key fob. I'm wondering if you have a favorite program you like to use on the Nox 800 if you would not mind sharing ? strick
  10. I've noticed that the module on my ctx (wm10) will still be blinking as if it's still charging after being on the charger overnight. I dont know if the wm12 module is doing the same but I'll check it out. Regardless the battery life in my wm10 seems to be just fine. I have never had the batteries die in either module and I wonder if this apparent lack of charging (constant blinking of the light) really means the battery is compromised. Has anyone out there had either the wm10 or wm12 modules battery die and need replacing? thinking of ordering another battery now as you got me nervous lol
  11. Street tear outs are tough...you gotta get em when you can..I've seen some get torn out and then covered back up the same day.. especially the side walks this seems to happen with. Great saves and looking forward to the rest of the story. strick
  12. jackpot! I'm always keeping my eyes open for stuff like that. Here in California they will fence off some of the areas as soon as they start working on it. strick
  13. I read Steve's story....Thats just ridiculous...low mineralized ground..... gold everywhere...even potato sized gold ...what a great experience. Maybe some day they will open it back up? but since all you fellas did so well maybe the owners did the math and closed it to the public because of that? strick
  14. I've seen that video before which made me wonder why they showed the test with the ring on top. Interesting detector...it does resemble my TDI in a lot of ways. I'll be watching closely but doubt I'll be getting one unless it is significantly better then the TDI. strick
  15. Umm the ring was on top of the nails...like so what,, and why do people always use brand new nails when they do the nail board test? I have yet to find a brand new nail while out detecting lol strick
  16. That seems like a long time ago but it really wasn't. The hobby is so addicting....you wake up and say to yourself...relic? gold? beach? or park today? My wife still uses the 2300 it's her favorite gold machine. strick
  17. My lord...I was going to poke fun at your lighter till I saw all that gold! Ugly is the way to go sometimes strick
  18. My Redheads are still holding up used them again last weekend...but I'll admit I'm not nearly the gold hunter Klunker is and he might wear them out fast. Some are saying they come apart at the seams with photos to prove on the Bass Pro link. I would venture to say that prospectors are the ultimate testers of boots as they put on hundreds of miles in rough terrain and have an unusual habit of using their boots as a ground scraping tool. strick
  19. Exactly... sort of like a match.com for people and metal detectors strick
  20. At least you got to think about it Fred....the first time I ever heard of Gains creek was 10 years after Bob found his nugget lol strick
  21. These are tough question.... it depends on you mostly.... and is best solved by you doing research. I have no experience with the MXT pro but I can vouch that the deus and 800 are excellent detectors. Strick
  22. Gerry has clients all over the. Ive lost track how many detectors ive bought from. He will do trades as well. He will give you free training when you buy certain gold detectors...you may even find a gold nugget. He has experience metal detecting everything from relics to rings to gold and knows what detector will work best for your situtation. Strick
  23. Clark I'd try to help you but I don't even understand how bicycle pump works lol strick
