  1. Past hour
  2. Has anyone mentioned headphones vs. speaker? That tends to make a noticeable difference on all detectors. I've been running All Terrain High Conductors (ATHC) almost exclusively, but with either the ML105 headphones or the WM09 wireless module. The battery life indicator gets pretty low after ~6 hours but I've not run it out or gotten any warnings. (I seem to recall a 6 1/2 hour run time for ATHC predicted in some ML videos, but my memory could be off on that.) BTW, I don't know why the battery indicator gets a bad rap, maybe because the early (pre-release) videos weren't very descriptive? IMO the decreasing size of the green part is fairly continuous (to the best of my eyes) over time in use.
  3. There is nobody at Minelab USA who knows the amount of effort/time/money some of us early dealers have put into Minelab. Here's a prime example. They have distanced themselves from the same people who have been here forever, the same dealers who were the backbone of this company (in the USA) 20+ yrs ago. I won't go into detail as it's not the time or place. But I can easily name 10+ of the top dealers back then who have noticed. My hope, as you have mentioned, is that Minelab Adelaide still knows and has something planned. My gut tells me otherwise. Time will tell.
  4. I run in ATHC with the back light pretty high. ATHC and the backlight really draw the battery down fast. Battery run time is not good at all. I rigged a backup battery on mine from the get go. Most of the time I start recharging from the backup well before the day is over. Basically days I'm out 6 hours or more I have to go to backup to finish out the day. I don't think I could deal with it without the backup battery. My opinion everyone needs a backup with this detector.
  5. I'm happy to watch and wait, but I'm developing a real itch..
  6. Today
  7. Folks make a lot of 3D printed accessories for the Deus. This should be a cinch for someone who already makes such accessories, such as XP Deus coil centering blocks, etc. P.S. Arrgh, I just remembered the 9x5 XP White HF elliptical coil (as well as the 9" round HF coil) has an external shaft mounted battery, so that somehow has to be accommodated in the handle design if an HF coil coil were to be used... Doable, but it just complicates matters and constrains the dimensions of the handle to accommodate the battery.
  8. Hey there, so sorry for the delay, lots of family stuff. I’d be more than willing to answer any questions about the medal. I will definitely check in more often!
  9. After a long dry spell on the beach, I finally got gold! 10K wedding band (2 grams). Also a heavy stainless cross. Ring came in around 60.
  10. That thing looked slick! I saw it 2 mins after being posted and figured somebody would be all over it.
  11. 😆 I swing the M15 for 5 hours easy in the water. Sand hunting is a different story. I find myself taking short "pauses" after an hour or so resting the coil on the sand for a moment. Haven't tried the counter weight thing yet. My stork leg shaft being longer than the standard Manticore shaft further throws it out of balance. Another thing that helps in the water beyond buoyancy is that I tend to scrape the bottom a lot more than when I'm dry hunting since you don't have to worry about collecting sand on top of your coil. Really love covering the extra ground with it in the water. I feel like I'm covering twice the ground than the other hunters in the same amount of time. One step ahead of the competition!
  12. It seems the right Amps/Volts that the manual it says to use... Similar battery consumption even for me using the M8 with high sensitivity. 8 hours of operation and a recharge it is necessary. Aniway be careful to remove the auto lighting and set a proper level to suit the daylight and spare some energy setting off the keypad...
  13. I think every major detector has its certain features a person could miss, I do wish the Nox and Manticore series had the display of the V3I, but hey the BFO detectors I built in the late 60s from Transistor Radio parts didn't need no stinking ground balance, you just tuned it constantly as you went, and they pinpointed better than actual pinpointers do today , with a Geiger Counter type tick that increased in speed the closer to a target. Thanks for the memories Steve.
  14. Use an electronics circuit board cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to clean things, blowing air is relatively useless.
  15. It is a lot smaller than I was expecting. NF 12” Evo Special - Fine Gold. Frequency - tiny and Front End Gain about 3/4 of the way around (these are the 2 dials added by the mods) Detector Gain - 1 (right down) Stabiliser - 10. Using a Rooster Booster and a low latency Bluetooth wireless set up. Vol limit - 5. GB type - general. Motion Medium. Audio - Normal. Signal - 20. Target Vol - 1. Response - Normal. Threshold set just at a low hum. The threshold on these is very different to the GPZ. When it is a bit lower and right on the cusp of being heard or not, it sort of ‘twangs’ in and out of being heard. I guess being a dial instead of a digital arrangement like the GPZ is the difference??
  16. Yes, well Minelab did say they would make a 10" for the 7000. They then ended up saying it couldn't be done. They lied. The Russian made X coils sorted that out. They even made an 8" for the 7000. So yes, Minelab lied to make people buy more detectors. That is their business model. D4G
  17. My current charge cable is doing the same thing....will try another tomorrow.
  18. It came with the only two coils most would ever want for it, a 5" round and a 10x5". To make aftermarket coils for something it has to make economic sense for the manufacturer, will they sell enough coils to make it worth it or would they be better off putting that effort into making coils for another detector whereby they'd sell far more coils. I early on asked Nel if they would make coils for it, they had no interest at all in doing so, and their business model means they already have the housings, it's just wiring them right with the right plug to suit the detector but... there is a problem! There is another big reason aftermarket manufacturers would shy away from making coils for it, like all things Minelab, it has chipped coils which stop it, the chips often provide other benefits too in relation to the detectors performance not just preventing aftermarket coils, but they do prevent aftermarket coils, unless the manufacturer like Coiltek teams up with Minelab with licensing, but again, is it viable, would they sell enough to make it worth it? I personally don't think so. An X-ray from our ever so wonderful X-ray man @strick Right next to that nice twisted shielded cable is ...... a chip!
  19. Update on the Modded 5000. 15" Nugget finder evo, biggest was .3 total was .89. First real day in the field on pounded ground by 6 and 5000. Nothing shallower than 5-6". Its impressive to say the least.
  20. I should look at getting some form of handle like that for my Deus 1 HF coils, I have the control pod and the headphone thingy with screen on it, excuse my ignorance I never use it to know what it's called. I could turn my Deus 1 into a viable pinpointer opition, I even have a little leather pouch to put my control pod into so I could use that on my belt with the Deus 1 9x5" HF coil as the pinpointer, thanks Chase, hadn't crossed my mind and it would be a smaller rig than the Mini monster, it would also give my Deus some time in the field rather than being a cupboard detector. The good or bad thing depending is the Deus 1 isn't sensitive to hands like the other higher frequency detectors are so that's useful in a pinpointer role too. Now to find a handle or mini shaft handle type option. I guess I could buy a Chinese clone Deus 1 shaft cheap and chop it up to make a mini one.
  21. 925 ding ding ding we have a winner on beach #1 🥸
  22. Hi Doc, I for one did not realize the extent of physical difficulties you labor under - reading the list of your injuries made me admire you anew for your quest to find ways to make what can be a fairly debilitating hobby, better for all of us. Thanks.
  23. Hi yep all fully charged and no flashing green light. I used 2A/5v charger which has been used for my nox with no issues ! I have fully charged it again and will note down accurately how long I use it for. It may be that I have under estimated how long I have used it, so we will see. I will let you know the results. Thx for info
