Legend - First Impressions

Recommended Posts

That dirt reminds me of my backyard when I lived in Brisbane, Australia.

Nice looking pooch!

Sounds like you're enjoying the Legend.  So far so good!

Jeff,

    Thanks for the report!

    Prayers for your mom.
56 was a good year and hopefully I’ll catch ya in a few months.

Looking forward to more info. Thanks again! Tom

Thanks for the quick report Jeff.  As you put more hours on the Legend, I will be looking forward to hear how you feel it compares to the Equinox.

Glad to hear your mom has recovered well enough to order you out of the house.  When she offers to make you a sandwich, I think the recovery will be complete.  Take care and HH.

Received a Legend WHP with 11” stock coil today.

First impressions are that this is an extremely nice detector as far as build quality, features, layout, and general feel.

Weight is similar to the Equinox but the handle/grip is much more comfortable at least for my hands and the Legend is not very nose heavy with the 11” coil. The Legend’s weight is fairly evenly distributed. It actually reminds me of a T2, F70 or F75 in that regard.

The audio tones are very nice compared to previous Nokta Makro detectors and have a more tone-like audio similar to the Equinox and Deus 2 using Square audio. The audio volume, pitches, and tone breaks are easy to adjust.

It was about 35 F here in central Georgia today with a wind chill of half that temperature so detecting with the Legend didn’t happen.

Hopefully I will be able to use it some tomorrow 3/13/22.

Please feel free to comment or leave your impressions of the Legend if you have one and want to add to this discussion whether you agree or disagree with whatever I might report.

Pretty much mirrored my initial run, Jeff, but no gold.  It is a pleasure to swing.  Need to further assess its capabilities, but it has got Nox beat in terms of of its overall ergonomics, balance, and user interface.  I like the tones.  Went with 60 tones and no disc.  Great target tone modulation, no need to glance at the depth meter. Not thrilled about having to learn yet another different TID scale, but that just something that will get easier with time.  Great TID spread on the mid conductors all the way up to the zincolns.

Thank you for your report. I have one question: a relic hunter I know won a Legend...he want to test it and I asked him to make a screenshot of the mineralization strength bars. He told me Legend doesn’t have a strenght mineralization graphic...is that the case? Thanks

Yes.  NM decided not to put a mineralization meter on Legend.  Perhaps a future add but if you look at the screen layout, there really isn’t any spare room.

I hope NM is considering adding one with good resolution. It has been suggested to them that the Depth scale or Ferro Check might be utilized during the Ground Balance procedure.

When ground balancing the Legend, will it give some sort of "value" like the AT Max or Equinox does? I understand this isn't an actual measurement of ground conditions, but would allow some sort of objective comparison between people using Legend units.

It gives you a reference number during GB similar to Equinox.
